Casa de los Venados to host Classical Music Recital![]() A message from our friends at Casa de los Venados… Hi everyone! We are going to co-sponsor, along with the Valladolid Casa de Cultura, a classical music concert at our home Casa de los Venados in the Salon del Pinas on Tuesday, May 31 at 8:00 p.m. The program is the following:
J.S. Bach…….A selection of 5, Two-Part Inventions Here is a little information on the musicians who will be performing:
Raphael Gold, Viola: Originally from California, Raphael began his violin studies at the age of 4 under the direction of his parents Joseph Gold and Deborah Dare. He continued his studies with Robert Slaughter, principal violist of the Dallas and Houston Symphonies, Elizabeth Gibson and Roy Malan, professor of violin at the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC). He has played with several orchestras including YPSO of Berkeley, the Napa Valley Symphony Orchestra, the New Millennium Strings Orchestra, the San Francisco Sinfonietta and the Pro Musica ensemble of Oakland. He has performed in several music festivals including Avila, Spain, Tirol, Austria, Managua, Nicaragua, Guanajuato, Mexico and New York. In 2009 he graduated the University of Chicago with a Master of Arts. He is currently a violist with the Yucatan Symphony Orchestra. The Gold-Myall Duo specializes in playing in non-traditional venues throughout Mérida, Yucatán. Understanding the importance of bringing music to the public, the Duet has performed 2 didactic concerts in Merida’s Prison (CERESO), participated in the presentation of the book “Julia’s Star” for the international day of peace, as well as the City Museum of Mérida and the Celarain Asylum for the Elderly. By bringing music out of auditoriums into more intimate venues the Duet aims to give the Yucatecan public the opportunity to enjoy classical music up-close We are also planning on having a small informal reception and we will provide some light refreshments after the concert so people can stay and meet and talk with the musicians. Please tell your other ex-pat and Mexican friends about the concert. We want to see the Salon FULL with guests. If this concert is a success (and we have every reason to believe it will be) we may co-sponsor other future concerts with the Casa de Cultura.
