Isla Island - Whale Shark Island

BLUE Ocean Film Festival announced winners of its 2010 awards for top cinematic works and ocean conservation yesterday.   Kip Evans/ Mountain and Sea Productions was recognized for his Isla Holbox video, featured at the 2010 San Francisco Ocean Film Festival.   Check it out here!

The waters around Isla Holbox off Mexicos Yucatán Peninsula teem with plankton, a feast for giant whale sharks—10-meter giants that gather by the hundreds from June through September. These super-sized, but toothless filter feeders are the core of a local tourism industry, but over-development could threaten this delicate balance.
