Golf Courses in Akumal, Mexico & the Riviera Maya

The Riviera Maya now offers a number of world class courses. Greg Norman's Fairmont Mayakoba was host to the newest PGA event, The Mayakobá Classic, Riviera Maya course in February 2007, marking the first time an official tournament was played in Mexico.

PlayaCar Golf Course

Located just 20 miles north of Akumal, the Playa Car Club de Golf is well known for its challenging course and beautiful landscaping. The 18-Hole, par 72 course highlights the surrounding tropical jungle and sits just a few hundred yards from the turquoise blue water of the Caribbean.

El Camaleon Course, Fairmont Mayakoba

El Camaleon was host to Mexico's first ever PGA tournament in 2007. The course borders the Fairmont Mayakoba resort near Playa del Carmen. This 18 Hole, par 72 course, offers over 7,000 yards of play from professional tee. With its unique hazards and captivating greens, El Camaleòn has been carefully planned to capture the essence of a pristine and natural landscape.

Puerto Aventuras Marina and Resort

Certainly more casual than PlayaCar but fun and a great way to get out and enjoy the natural beauty of the area, the Puerto Aventuras Golf Course is just 10 minutes north of Akumal. Walk-ons are welcomed. The atmosphere is friendly and laid back. The Puerto Aventuras course has very reasonable greens fees. Putting green rental clubs and golf carts are available. Rate is approximately $45 US for unlimited holes.

Mayan Palaca Riviera Maya

Located between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, the 18-hole, par 54 golf course features traps of bright white sand, lakes surrounded by natural rocks and is set in the emerald green of the tropical jungle. The greens, constructed with a 1950's style that make them more complex, will complement this challenging golf course.
