Description

Located away from the crowds at the northern point of Half Moon Bay, La Sirena is quiet and peaceful. Some of the best views of the bay are available from here. The La Sirena property centers around an enclosed garden courtyard. The two bedroom condominiums enjoy a full ocean view on the sea side and lovely cool garden view overlooking the courtyard to the interior. The garden courtyard centers around a large swimming pool that includes a full lap lane.

Sirena 14 is a third level (top floor) unit overlooking the shoreline and beach area. High ceilings and a spacious floor plan help to create an easy airy feeling within the unit. From the main entrance you will arrive at the open living space that includes a dining area with seating for four, very large kitchen with ocean view and breakfast bar and main sitting area. The sunken sitting area is just a few steps down from the main entry level, creating the unobstructed ocean view from rear to front of the unit. The living area is comfortably furnished with built-in section sofa and is cooled with a large and quiet operating mini-split air conditioner. Glass doors off the sunken sitting area take you to the ocean side terrace that is well furnished for enjoying the view and breezes. This is a perfect spot to take it all in during the early morning and evening hours.

To the rear of the unit are the two bedrooms.

- The master bedroom is cool and restful. It is furnished with a king bed enjoys a garden side terrace and private bath.

- The guest room is also furnished with king bed and has a garden side terrace and private bath.

Both bedrooms enjoy pillow top mattresses and are cooled with quiet and efficient mini-split air conditioners.

Akumal direct properties are located right in front of the beach and had an amazing view of the ocean. Make sure to ask about sargasso situation before booking but property does a lot to minimize it and was not too bad compared to other locations..they were very accommodating and communication was awesome. We left an iPhone and they were quick to return. Property was lovely

The condo we stayed in was overlooking the sea, just as the pictures show. This place is ideal for a quiet vacation. You can hear the surf all the time. The condo is on the third floor and you will have to climb 4 sets of stairs every time you go down to the beach or pool. I would not recommend this place for older people or those with difficulty walking. The location on Half moon bay is farthest away from the restaurants and shops but ok if you have a car. Sometimes you have to pay for parking, if you’re going to the beach for example. The kitchen is well enough appointed to cook meals in. The beds are great. And the air conditioning works well. The lap pool in the garden was lovely. Be sure to buy your groceries in Playa del Carmen or Puerto Aventuras because all food is more expensive in Akumal. Avoid the general Store at all costs. Bring body lotion because the air and sea can be very drying. The WiFi is somewhat weak and intermittent, so definitely get increased coverage for your mobile phone to use data. It’s a great place to chill.

Great place!! Exactly as shown in the pics. Filtered water provided during the stay; kitchen is adequate for cooking any meal. Bathrooms were basic & fine. Patio space has great views. Francesca, and all staff in the complex were very helpful & friendly; responsive in fixing an issue immediately with our shower. Pool is amazing, dedicated beach space nice & maintained. Parking was easy. Location couldn't be better - nice and quiet, convenient to many activities. Yal-ku practically right across the street. Snorkeling in the water just in front was beautiful; tons of nature & views while walking along the shoreline from Half Moon Bay down to Akumal Bay. Can't wait to stay here again!

We have stayed at La Sirena Unit 14 a total of three times this year, it is just that good. The location cannot be beat. The private lounging area is quiet, with ample loungers and umbrellas to keep everything handy. The snorkeling out front is just amazing, with the most beautiful water I've ever seen. We took my 13 year old here in March, and he had a blast in both the bay, as well as the wonderful pool! The complex itself is quiet, serene and very private. The pool area is beautiful, shrouded in canopies of palms and other foliage. The condo itself is perfect, with an amazingly comfortable mattress in each room (better than the one we have at home!), and the décor is tasteful and very functional. The front balcony was our favorite spot for evening tequila, but the rear balconies provide wonderful views of the coast as well as the sunrise, which can also be seen from the front. Our housekeeper (Rosa) was just the best, and kept everything nice and clean for us! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this beautiful property, and we will be back again soon.

Everyone at AkumalDirect was prompt in responses. They even helped us rent bikes during the trip. The condo was so spacious, clean, air conditioned and plenty of clean water. The pool was a nice treat as not all condos have this luxury. The complex was quiet, always helpful staff in a very safe, gated community. We've been to Akumal four times now and this is our favorite place to stay so far.

Half Moon Bay is a lovely, quiet and serene spot on the Riviera Maya. This comfortable well-equipped condo has beautiful views of the beach and sea (including sunset), refreshing ocean breezes, and everything you need to just relax, including a lovely pool. Just FYI, the condo is up a couple flights of stairs. If you want adventure, there is great snorkeling on the reef (be careful not to touch the coral) and in Yal-Ku lagoon just next door, and great places to eat, amazing cenotes, and several Mayan ruins a short drive away which will acquaint you with the fascinating history of this beautiful region of Mexico.

Lovely and quiet! We stayed on the third floor and our view was spectacular, looking out to the ocean and back to Half Moon Bay. Housekeeping excellent and plenty of space for four. Well-appointed kitchen and it was great to have two bathrooms! Nice pool and well-kept beach area with plenty of chairs and umbrellas. The only drawback is that you need to be able to walk two flights of stairs. If this is an issue, choose a unit on a lower floor. You will need water shoes for the reef. There is a short sea wall, but you can easily get into the water and around to the beach if you want to snorkel or walk to beach restaurants, such as La Lunita or La Buena Vida. Que Onda and Yalk-ku Laggon are also within easy walking distance. We were able to rent bikes from the front desk. Akumal is easily walked, but the bikes were nice to get to Akumal Plaza. Alfredo is the site manager and is happy to help with whatever you need.

I can't say enough about the beautiful location on Half Moon Bay. We enjoyed hours watching various fish and rays in the water, along with the pelicans, frigate birds and osprey flying by.
The condo was well decorated and comfortable. The kitchen was large enough and had everything we needed (except a lime squeezer, but we left one there :). 
The pool was refreshing, and a nice option when the wind kept us out of the bay. The inner courtyard was quiet and a relaxing place to sit in the evening.
The housekeeper and the grounds keeper do a terrific job.
We walked down to La Buena Vida for happy hour several times, and had a deliciously memorable dinner at La Lunita. We got take-out pizza from Lol Ha, and enjoyed it from the balcony looking out over the amazing landscape of the bay.
Even though we knew the other condo units were occupied, we rarely heard anyone. Mostly, we just heard the waves on the reef, and the breeze blowing through the large livingroom windows.
La Sirena #14 will be on our list of places we would like to visit again.

Renting this condo was a delight, due to the location (great snorkeling right from condo), the sunsets from the porch, the nearby restaurants, the helpful staff (who corrected the normal minor problems immediately) and the lovely pool and garden. I would use these condos again, although Akumal, and indeed all of the Mayan Riviera is so very built up from our last stay 15 years ago.
We especially loved the proximity to excellent snorkeling, which is why we chose Akumal and got lucky being on Half Moon Bay, which is much quieter and less crowded than Akumal Bay. 
Not for people with disabilities. Great for romance or families.

This condo is fine. Could use some general maintenance. Didn’t seem super clean, but this is more a function of the aging condition of floors, counters and fixtures. Beds are comfortable. Kitchen is adequately stocked. Management company is very responsive and addressed questions and a couple of issues immediately. The grounds at LaSirena are beautiful and well maintained. The view from the condo is awesome. There is easy access to snorkeling. The outdoor positives offset any shortcomings of the condo itself.

This place is second to none! The location is the best in Akumal! Snorkeling right out the front door and the most spectacular gardens I’ve seen here anywhere! Just beautiful! The only issue we had was that our unit was not clean to start with and never really got cleaned. A quick sweep of the floors and changing garbage bags out is not cleaning. The unit itself was in need of a deep clean overall. Also the dining room chairs were terribly uncomfortable with the sun poking us in the back every time we sat down and they were very difficult to move. Otherwise this place was lovely. Incredible views and a lovely outdoor patio front and back. Loved it!

We stayed at La Sirena #14 for 8 days. The location is incredible! The snorkeling in the bay is beautiful, and Yal-Ku lagoon is walking distance. There are multiple nearby restaurants that were all excellent! The management was very responsive and answered any questions before/during our trip promptly and professionally. The maid service was good as well. The A/C units worked great, which was very important to us. The unit is stocked with all basic dishware and appliances, all in good condition. The unit was reasonably clean. The pool was clean and well maintained. The only recommendations I would offer are that the unit could use some general maintenance/repair/cleaning (broken counter tiles, moldy grout in showers/corroded shower heads). I also discovered two dead American cockroaches when untying one of the curtains to close it. Not a huge deal, but could be remedied by more frequent deep cleaning. The water pressure was very low and the shower seldom heated up enough to even be considered lukewarm. Not an issue if you travel during the hottest months, but a warm shower would be nice. The beds are very firm, but the abundance of pillows makes this tolerable. Overall our stay was very enjoyable and we look forward to our next visit!

The view and location are like a dream. The apartment complex is beautifully landscaped and the pool is lovely. Our stay was comfortable and the home was equipped w everything we could need. We loved every second and miss it very much! All staff were amazing!

My party of 3 had a fabulous time at La Sirena. The pictures are no lie, this place is beautiful. Great snorkeling in the reef right outside and more lagoon snorkeling right down the street. It was within a gated community and felt very safe. We would definitely stay again.

La Sirena was an ideal spot to spend our vacation. The location at the north end of Half Moon Bay minimized the impact of the seaweed and provided an easy entrance for snorkeling. The top floor unit was breezy and cool in the day and had a great view of the bay. The staff were very helpful and efficient and the place was spotless. The large pool was clean and inviting, and the garden was beautiful.

We were lucky to spend an entire month at LaSirena and loved every day of it! The condo had a wonderful view, from all rooms, and especially the balcony, where we spent most of our time. Francesca, the onsite manager was friendly, professional, responsive and extremely helpful. The kitchen was large and well equipped, so we cooked quite a bit. We loved the location for a few reasons: it's close proximity to the lagoon for snorkeling, being in the quiet part of town, yet only a mile from all the action, across the street from the National Guard, so we felt very safe. The pool and beach are well maintained and beautiful. Even when the resort was busy, it still felt very spacious and private. We'll come again!

We enjoyed our stay here. I loved that the kitchen had everything we would need, including a blender and coffee maker. Wonderful large covered balcony. Air conditioning worked well. There was no hot water in the shower one day, even after letting it run a couple minutes, but it seemed fine the next day. There were some ants in the kitchen, but I assume that's common around here. While the view is nice up on the top floor I wouldn't recommend this particular unit for elderly people or anyone who isn't steady on their feet. It's a lot of stairs up to the unit and many steps inside the unit itself - sunken living room, etc. If you're up for the stairs, it's great. We also enjoyed the swimming pool and access to Half Moon Bay, which was great for snorkeling. Akumal bay is a total circus so it was nice to be here where there are fewer people. We were also able to walk to Yal-Ku Lagoon/Cenote from the condo. There are only two restaurants within walking distance, but they are both good.

We love off the beaten path, small places to stay in great locations. This condo fit the bill. Snorkeling right out of the back door - and even better, literally just down the adjacent street 200 yards away phenomenal easy calm snorkeling in the Yal Kul lagoon. ($14 a day and well worth it)
We were so impressed with the Akumal team's communications with us - both before and during our stay. Prompt answers, polite and friendly. We arrived very late in the evening and made use of the lockbox next to the door.
Views were unbeatable, ocean breezes kept things cool at night, and one day was so hot we used the in-bedroom air conditioner - a quiet unit that was perfect. Beds were comfy, linens and towels nice and soft. Owners are eco conscious - towels and linens changed after one week. We made use of the clothes drying line. Rose, the daily housekeeper, was wonderful and respectful of our hours.
The kitchen was very well stocked with spices and oils and everything you need to cook - but there are some great little beach side restaurants just down the road. All the places have huge 5 gallon bottles of purified water on the counter and they'll bring a spare if you run out.
We rented a car, but you could easily get around on foot and pay higher prices for food.
Akumal Half Moon Bay was great - no big resorts, lots of places that have been here a long time. We loved having the ocean out one balcony and the pool off another, and were lucky to have quiet neighbors during our stay.
Highly recommend this third floor unit - it was perfect! Pack light - you won't need much more than a bathing suit and a change of clothes. Everything else is here in the condo including blow driers, shampoo and cream rinse.
And thank you to the previous guest for leaving eggs, butter and coffee in the fridge. We returned the favor for the next guest.

This area has amazing views, largely sargasso free in the rocky northern end, but with fairly easy access to the shallow snorkeling bay. We love it here, and have been coming for years It is mostly a quiet neighborhood, with no highrises in sight. La Sirena has lovely gardens by the large pool which give it an advantage that no other condo complexes have. A wonderful place to stay.

We stayed at La Sirena Unit #14 in AKumal for 10 nights in Feb. 08. The unit is nice but the 52 steps almost killed us. It was 52 steps up and 52 steps down everytime we wanted to go back to our condo for something. We will never again stay in a unit that has steps because we hated the fact that if you were enjoying yourself on the beach in front of the building and had to go to the bathroom or get a snack or whatever, it was 52 steps both ways. We are in and out so much that this was a big inconvenience for us. The unit is very nicely decorated and clean. The view is beautiful. We enjoyed breakfast on the terrace every morning enjoying that view. Only real drawback is the 52 steps. If you don't mind steps, the place is great.

The grounds and location were great and especially the staff was awesome - but this condo did not look like its picture and was poorly equipped and furnished. There wasn't even a cutting board or a strainer in the kitchen. We had a condo so we could COOK! Felt like the owner had equipped at a garage sale. Saw MUCH better in other units. So, we loved the complex and people, appreciated the great service, but not unit #14.

The view from the condo was wonderul as was the property. There were a couple of very small maintenance items that need fixing (a light swith that needed to be wiggled and a sliding door latch that had to be played with to get it working). There is a very large private pool with lap pool that serves the condo in a beautiful interior garden. The good and bad about the beach is that once in the water there was no sand just coral. So water shoes or if snorkling scuba booties are very helpful. The good news is that the coral begins immediately so you see tropical fish with 15ft of beach. Great place, looking forward to returning.

things were great ! but I would definitely recommend new bedsheets as the current ones are literally see-through !! not up to par ! Sams nearby has great ones very reasonable.. also, towels had bleach stains and were thin.. I've stayed in Akumal at similar condos 5 different times and this is the first for these issues... there was plastic on the dining chairs also (felt real cheapy ).. the place was great otherwise.. thanks, Stephen I would recommend this condo building, but not this unit.. thanks! Stephen
ps; I'm not a complainer beleive it or not ! but the colors here were also garish.. sorry ! (and I like bright colors)

I was suprised to find fannel sheets on the king bed in the master bedroom. We enjoy sleeping with the windows open and A/C off. This was very difficult to do with fannel sheets in July. Suggest regular sheets be provided. p.s. The down comfortable was a very nice touch.

LA SIRENA #14 - is always good for us. We're somewhat long term and may become more so. The unit is showing some age - faded cusions, chipped tiles and grout, the oven doesn't work and the sliding screen door is pretty rough. Once again we ended up with a barking dog in the unit next to us (Iguana #15?) Why people bring their dog and make it sit in their condo all day and night I'll never understand. This poor creature sat at the window and barked the entire time. We are planning a family reunion for next year and may need housing for 10 or so. I'll be looking around. Hector is the best.

Just one minor inconvenience to be aware of: the door leading to the balcony has to remain locked as the balcony is not baby-proofed and babies could easily fall down. Our kids loved the pool and so did we; its shaded area is lovely.

We stayed at La Sirena the first part of July. It was very hot so the air conditioning was much appreciated. The unit was spotless, well decorated, comfortable and had a spectacular view. Gaspar, the property manager was fabulous and helped us deal with a number of issues from a malfunctioning rental car to advice on snorkeling trips. Snorkeling in half-moon bay was iffy as the current was very strong. Yal Kul Lagoon was great!

Our stay at the north end of Half Moon Bay at La Sirena Condos exceeded our expectations! Akumal is a charming, low-fuss village & we weren't interested in some of the other towns nearby that are way to crowded now. The location of our condo was ideal & we literally had the best snorkeling conditions around! There is an abundance of sea life right there: eels, sting rays, many types of colorful fish, sea urchins, coral (always wear water shoes!). We even saw bioluminescence! We had a picture perfect view of the Caribbean Ocean from our balcony & massive ocean facing windows. We were steps away from swimming & snorkeling or just relaxing under a palapa, listening to birds & feeling the breeze under the palm trees. The property was just as it is described, better actually. Everything you need is right there & we stayed for two weeks. Daily maid service was a real treat for us all & it felt like a true vacation not worrying about constant clean up (except tidying up little messes, of course). Akumal Direct always got back to me about any questions I had (& I had a lot!) & they even accommodated us when we needed to make a last minute change. They were incredibly thoughtful & patient which meant so much to our family of four traveling internationally for the first time due to COVID. We decided not to rent a car & stayed closer to home for the duration of our vacation. Instead we rented a golf cart one day & also the on-site bicycles for several days. These modes of transport made going out to dinner (La Buena Vida, Turtle Bay Cafe & Bakery), getting groceries or getting over the bridge to Akumal Pueblo for fresh produce at the local vendor stands much easier. Other than that we walked all over (to dinner a few minutes walk at La Lunita) & to Yal-Ku cenote & lagoon many times (which is a 5 minute walk). The pool area is lovely & the beach is paradise. I enthusiastically recommend this property to anyone looking to visit Akumal. We would love to return one day!!

This was a great decision. We stayed in Akumal to have a quieter vacation. The condo was clean, had all appliances working, and the 5-gallon water dispenser was refilled as soon as it got low. I didn't realize there was a DVD player in the condo-I would have brought some movies (as we had rain one or two days) for the kids. We walked to Yal-Ku lagoon, just down the block, and drove to the main beach and shops. Very low key. Went fishing one day and caught a mahi mahi; it was nicely cooked up by the main restaurant for dinner. We had rented a car and drove everywhere-no tours or buses or big hotels. I really liked that the condo was simple, clean, and authentic, not cookie-cutter. No elevator, just 3 flights of stairs. I would highly recommend this place if you are seeking a quieter, simpler vacation. The only downside was the main road that the condos and shops are on-it is simply bumpy, pot-holed, and we probably could have walked faster than we drove-it was that bad. Maybe the price to pay for authentic?
