Description

Luna Azul Condominiums, Unit #4. This second level unit has easy access to the beach and a private beachside terrace for enjoying the view looking out over Half Moon Bay. A perfect place to watch sea turtles, osprey, pelicans and schools of tropical fish. This unit is fresh and bright and very comfortable for up to 5 guests.

The unit offers a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, coffee maker and all appliances that you may need to prepare your own meals or enjoy snacks and cold drinks on the beach. Off of the kitchen is the dining area with seating for five. From the living and dining areas you can enjoy the view of Half Moon Bay through a wall of windows and sliding doors leading to the beachside terrace. The terrace is furnished with hammock and table and chairs for you to enjoy the breezes and sounds of the surf.

To the rear of the unit are two bedrooms. The master bedroom is spacious and private with large master bath and king bed. In the master bedroom there is a large television with DISH Satellite service. The guest bedroom is furnished with one double bed and one single bed and enjoys a private bath. AC in bedrooms and living area.

Luna Azul is one of our favorite condominium properties. It has a great central location within walking distance to Akumal's Yal-Ku Lagoon, restaurants and other services. The management here is excellent and always takes great care of our guests.

KINDLY NOTE: South winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Rivera Maya. While the situation is hard to predict for each specific week and area, we would like you to be aware as there is the potential to impact the beach and water entry.

The Riviera Maya is full of natural beauty, places to explore and opportunities for outdoor activities. We have a great list of activities and adventures completely unaffected by the arrival of sargasso that we would love to share with you. There is so much to see and do in this special place, we know that you will have an amazing and memorable vacation!

What a beautiful condo! The home is very spacious. The beds are comfortable, the bath is huge, and the view is to die for! You fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of waves crashing. There are coconuts right in front of the condo. We grabbed a few to make cocktails with. What a treat! Clean water is provided but you should grab a few things at the store because there is nothing else. Everything you need is within close proximity. Everyone we encountered in Akumal was friendly and helpful. I suggest renting a golf cart or bikes to get around. Turtle Bay Cafe was excellent for breakfast. The ceviche at La Lunita for beachside lunch is just a quick walk down the coast. If you have a car, Private dinner in Tulum @cocina.selva (IG) is an experience not to miss. Luna Azul provided exactly what we were looking for: Paradise!

I’m afraid to write this because I want to be able to rent this in the future! The view is incredible, we loved the funky decor, the location is so chill and between the two best restaurants in Akumal. It was extremely spacious for two people! we had daily housekeeping service that made the place spotless. Incredible value for this condo. We wanted to extend our visit. We will be back!

This was the best Airbnb ever. The house ist directly at the beach front in a very safety area. There is a guard a the entrance and a nightguard who controlled the beach. The sea is nice with a little corall reef. Cleanig Service all the time. It was so nice. Best wishes to the nice ladies. The house was fully equipped, nothing to complain and the Wifi works great. We will definitely come back. High recommendation.

Before arriving, we hired a private transportation service ( Miguel from Namaste Akumal) to drive us from Cancun to Akumal. When we arrived at the condo we were greeted by Adrian, our host and extremely hospitable and friendly staff. Our condo was spotless upon arrival and meticulously cleaned daily. It was very comfortable and the view was exquisite! We did not experience any seaweed problem during our stay. The snorkeling was great and saw lots of sea life. We highly recommend this special place to everyone.

This is an excellent place to stay if you want the beach at your footsteps. You sleep about 70' from the water. Its comfortable, air conditioned, and has 45mb/s wifi. It can't be beat for the price. The shower is not great, (no curtain), but the water is nice outside and I even saw 2 large turtles when I went for a swim.

This place is just amazing! The views are stunning and the apartment is beautiful with lots of art and careful decoration. The beach is quiet and great snorkeling can be done from the beach- particularly towards the left side of the bay. We saw beautiful fish and a big manta Rey. The host Akumal Direct is very helpful and responded to all our inquiries very quickly. I hope to be back again!

The layout of this condo is great - very comfortable seating, well-equipped kitchen, fabulous views. We missed that the building does not have a pool, which would have been nice given that the seas were pretty rough for our first couple of days. That said, this is a super clean, well-kept unit, and we would definitely book again.

We stayed in Akumal for 6 days and absolutely fell in love with the place! It’s very clean, spacious and the view is breathtaking; located right on the beach, it truly is a wonderful relaxing place. It looks just like in the pictures, the beds are comfortable and we had everything we needed. It’s within walking distance to shops, restaurants and there are many natural wonders to explore. Communication with the host Akumal Direct is excellent. Everyone is so kind and helpful, from the on-site staff to the tour guides to the people in town. We had a vehicle but we ended up doing a lot of walking and felt very secure doing so. We will definitely come back, we had a great time in Akumal.

AMAZING location, spotlessly clean. This condo is filled with charm and delightful attention to detail. We loved the decor, the layout and the view! Among my most very favorite travel accommodations, maybe even #1. We loved waking up to the ocean and sunrise, snorkeling off the beach just steps from the property. The management was excellent, easy prompt communication. Beach in front of the property was groomed every morning. Bikes or golf cart available for rent at very fair prices. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need inlcuding a big jug of filtered water. Awesome resturants nearby. We hope to visit again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

We are just home from a week in Unit 4. Two bedrooms, one with twin beds, and two bathrooms - just right for our family with two adult children. The condo itself is charming in its décor and absolutely spotless, with a kitchen adequate for easy meals, and a living room and balcony (second floor) overlooking the Carribbean just below. The maids come every day and take care of everything; our only real challenge inside was trying to figure out how to adjust the water temperature for the showers. A motley collection of flippers, snorkeling masks, noodles, and water boards can be found in the closets, as well as four large beach towels -- no reason to bring them. If you want more in the way of water equipment, it's easily available in town.

As many have remarked, the sand beach is small and there are lots of rocks as you wade out, so you do need water shoes. But the sea is warm and delightful. Our son went snorkeling just out front and saw many fish, lobsters, and crabs. If you want to spend the day on the beach, you may want to be aware that the number of recliners is somewhat limited and there are guests who throw towels out early in the morning to "save" their places, and then are not seen for hours. :( 

The location is fantastic, an easy walk to several restaurants and shops, and a little more than a mile into the main shopping area on the beach side of Akumal. We were a little stunned by the crowds as we drove in on Saturday and could barely move the car a foot at a time, but as the week passed, it became clear that those were holiday week-end crowds. The condo developments are jammed right up next to one another, but you really have a sense of peace and quiet amd privacy once you are on the water side. There is a well-stocked grocery in the little shopping area, and a much larger Walmart-style grocery on the way to Tulum, about 20 minutes away.

All in all, a terrific family vacation home away from home.

Our family of four (two adult children) stayed at Luna Azul #4 for a week. The condo wasn’t fancy, but it had everything we needed and was very clean and roomy. The views are amazing and we loved opening up the big beautiful sliding door to hear the ocean and get the sea breeze to come in. I’m not someone who likes the big, impersonal resort thing. I felt as if we were at a home the entire vacation, except with an amazing view of paradise. The beach is absolutely gorgeous and very private. There are plenty of condos along the beach, but it never felt crowded…ever! Even on windy days, the beach was perfect. The grounds keepers did a great job of cleaning up the seaweed early every morning and I really appreciated that because when I looked down the beach to the south, the condos starting right next-door at Playa Caribe down to La Buena Vida Restaurant were not so lucky. The seaweed was piled up the entire week; they never seemed to clean it up. I was so glad they took time each morning to clean it up at Luna Azul; it made the beach so much more pleasant. We stayed on the second floor where it took less than one minute to get from condo to beach chair and the terrace gave just enough secluded bliss with a coconut tree right there. You just can’t do that in a big resort. We snorkeled in the bay, but most of the other days we were there it was too windy. Bring water shoes for the bay. It was rocky, but that wasn’t a downfall for us. We went on lots of outings, so when we come back we’ll be able to snorkel more, since we’ve already done the ruins tours. I would definitely come back to this condo and I don’t usually say that because I like to have other experiences, but when you find a gem, it’s hard not to compare and I wouldn’t want to be disappointed. The maids were great. I got a little spoiled, not having to do dishes or clean up after everyone. There were ants the first couple of days in the kitchen, but I think that’s to be expected in a tropical setting. No other bugs, which was good. We could walk from Akumal if we wanted, but we had a car and drove into Akumal quite a bit for dinner, Akumal Bay and shopping. Next time, I’ll rent a bike. We really appreciated the little store right across the street, for essentials and very yummy ice cream. We felt very safe and enjoyed ever minute of the condo! I think it is a great deal for all the amenities you get. We were able to spend more money on outings and going to great restaurants in the area when we wanted, but not once did I feel cheated in less of a condo. I would highly recommend this place.

Great condo. Very clean, quiet and very well kept. If we ever returned to Akumal, we would stay here again. It was in a very convenient location for us. We could walk to both Akumal and Yal-Ku. And of course our favorite place, La Buena Vida is right down the road. Such a pretty view from the balcony and the lone Palm tree to the left blocks out the morning sun - perfect! They have thought of everything. The bed was very comfortable, a biggie for us. Internet was slow, but worked just fine. A/C was quiet and cold. My hubbie went down onto the beach to look at the beautiful stars about 4 am and security was on it in less than one minute - no joke!

This is a good choice if you want to stay in Half Moon Bay. Our second floor unit, No. 4, was great, with comfy beds and very nice decor. There were a few ants, but I think that's to be expected in the tropics. The second floor unit has a lovely balcony and diagonal windows, both affording great views of the beach. The beach itself, as others note, is a bit narrow and water shoes are needed to wade in, due to the coral. Also a shame that plastic garbage washes up some spots, but we also saw that on the gorgeous Tulum beach. But we like to snorkel and there was good snorkeling still available at Half Moon Bay, despite some die-off of the reefs over the past few years. The main Akumal beach was a mob scene with hordes of people being bused in during the busy holiday season, while Half Moon Bay remained quiet. There are some palapas and chairs in front of Luna Azul, which was great until some obnoxious renters started reserving them at 6 AM (I kid you not) by running down in their nightclothes to lay out towels etc. The unit comes with daily maid service, and the maid worked hard, including washing the dishes. Deservedly got a nice tip. This was our second visit to the area.

Magical!! Secure behind a gauded gate, the quaint brick paved streets and landscaped gardens led us to the Luna Axuls ocean swept arch to into the courtyard, to see turquoise water. Our senses were filled.
The condo was very comfortable. I loved the firmness of the beds and couches no sinking to hurt my back. Because of the well designed rooms no a/c was needed, the gentle rythum of the waves, rocks you to sleep. The bay is most swimable!!! Even for kids. Mostly waist high 200+ ft out. Great food walking distance-best snorkeling at Yal ku & Akumal bay. Both walking distance.But please be careful tourists have all but killed the coral reefs w sunscreen n Finn's-& carelessness!! See these natural wonders before they are no longer here, dispite government intervention to save them and bring them back!!
Better than Hawaii better than Virgin islands better and closer than Tahiti ! My fav spot!! My only complaint Tell Beinavirda Restaraunt to invest in better napkins!!

everything was great, except the management kept promising a parking space for our rented golf cart, and a place to charge it which never happened. The hairdryer did not work, and there were no small bowls in the unit. If you tip the housekeeping staff every day, then you get a lot better service versus then tipping at the end.

Very friendly and communication stuff. The view is incredible. Great housekeeping. Just a few things I wanted to point out. Not natural, polystyrene bed linen, from which it is unpleasant to sleep and the skin itches. And very poor quality frying pans and pots, all scratched. Only hot water comes out of the shower when you turn on the cold faucet.

We enjoyed our accommodations very much. My wife and I stayed here in January 2022 with our two adult children. Having 2 beds in the second bedroom worked out perfectly. Luna Azul is very close to two nice restaurants (La Lunita and Buena Vida) and a small grocery store. It’s also only a 10 min walk to Yal Ku lagoon where we enjoyed calm snorkeling with a lot of beautiful fish. We also walked to the small town center of Akumal and at Pescador restaurant about a mile away from the condo. It was very windy during our stay which made snorkeling off our beach very difficult unfortunately.

There were a few isues with condo #4. The master bedroom was missing one set of blinds so the sun woke us up at 5.30am. The water container in the kitchen was leaking. The stove had two burners that were not working. The airconditionig unit makes a lot of noise in the 2nd bedroom. There were no wine glasses.
The location of the condo was great but the unit #4 has not been well maintained.When it was a sunny day it was difficult to get a beach bed while the condos on either side there were many empty beds. I had to get out by 8.30 am to secure two beds for the Family.

We still had a wonderful vacation but next time We would probably stay in the condo next door with the small pool.

This was our 3rd time at Luna Azul. The location, the beach, the staff were all tremendously helpful. When we needed shuttles to Tulum, Puerto Adventurous, COVID tests, any extra towels etc... they were right there. The cleaning staff was super flexible, and the beaches were kept clean each day. We had NO sargassum until the last day, so everything was pretty. The weather was perfect. We plan on coming here every year for many more. We ate breakfast at Turtle Bay every day, and expereinced dinners at LBV, Turtle Bay, Tavernia, Pescadora, and La Lunita. Even spent a day snorkling at Ya-Kul. can't wait until next year!

Arrived late after office hours and check in process was still easy. A recent windstorm had knocked out power to our condo building and the one next door. The manager was able to provide a different unit in a different building until the power was restored. I was fearing a long wait for the utility to restore power but it was restored just after breakfast the next morning. Snorkeling in Halfmoon Bay is excellent, especially the north half of the bay.

We are repeat visitors in Akumal staying at Luna Azul. Over the past 20 plus years, I think we have stayed in every unit. We will continue to come back. Luna Azul is lovely beach away from the hustle of any resort nearby. The town is charming as are the accommodations at Luna Azul - clean and comfortable as well.

We loved the condo; very comfortable and open. Also liked being able to walk to any number of restaurants; we did not rent a car, and never needed one. The farmers market was great. The snorkeling right from the beach was superb.Our only issue with the condo was that the wifi was very unpredictable

We loved how this condominium was decorated and the open floor plan and spaciousness.On previous visits we have stayed on the third floor, but this unit was easier to pop up and back to the beach because of its second floor location.

There are several restaurants right on HalfMoon Bay and several others within walking distance. Of course if you have a rental car, you can drive to a different beach every day to snorkel and to a different town on the Maya Riviera for dinner each night. It was great to sit on the balcony and read and look out to observe turtles swimming and coming up for air. Shopping in Playa del Carmen or in Tulum is convenient for stocking up on groceries.

We would love to visit again and include more friends. The akumal area is very homey and not overly resort - like. We prefer this type of travel. With all the construction of new roads and building from Cancun to Thalum we hope this area doesn't loose it's charm. Otherwise it becomes the same old resort idea, Akumla is almost like a different world, bueatiful. Once again the people
are friendly and very helpful. We will return, soon. We have been fighting the flood in Fargo, ND., so the great memories of our Mexico trip bring ease of mind at this point in our fight to stay above the water and dry.

Jorge the property manager was so extremely helpful. The condo was located directly on the beach and very relaxing. We looked at other places while we were down in Akumal (over the course of a week) and realize that for the daily price we probably found the best value for the $ w/ this condo. Guests need to realize that there is a rustic charm to renting a low key condo. Turtles laid eggs right in front of our bldg. Very satisfied and sad to leave.
