Q.

 

How do I make a reservation?

A.

 

You have the option of booking your Akumal vacation reservation independently and securely online via our sister site, www.AkumalDirect.com, or working with our knowledgeable vacation specialists. Each of our staff has lived in Akumal and has first hand knowledge of Akumal and the Riviera Maya.

To book online simply follow the links to check availability and complete your reservation securely. Additionally, you may contact us for availability and questions as to which of Luna Azul’s units may work best for you. When sending an inquiry please make sure you have included your arrival and departure dates, number of adults and children, and any special needs that you might have. Our specialist may also make suggestions as to other properties that might be better suited for you based on price, amenities or other considerations.

Please review our Payment and Cancellation Policies. If you choose to work with one of our associates, once you have made your final selection on Akumal accommodations you will be sent a detailed invoice with payment instructions.

Upon receipt of payment you will receive an initial confirmation voucher via email which will serve as your renal agreement. Upon final payment you will receive a final confirmation voucher including defined arrival and departure dates, payment schedules, arrival and check-in instructions, and terms and conditions related to cancellations and refunds. Your final confirmation will be sent via E-Mail and followed with a complete confirmation packet via US Mail.

What type of deposit and payment due dates can I expect?

A.

 

Most properties require a 50% deposit to confirm a reservation, with full payment to be received 60 days prior to arrival. If you will be arriving in 60 days or less, full payment will be required at the time of confirmation. It is important that all payments be submitted as specified in the rental agreement in order to avoid losing your reservation and/or your booking deposit.

At what time are check-in and check-out?

A.

 

Check-in as of 3:00 PM Local Time. Check-out must be prior to 11:00 AM Local Time. Within the confirmation voucher or rental agreement you can expect to find terms related to check-in and checkout times, maximum occupancy, pet policies, cancellation conditions, and maintenance of the rental.

How are cancellation and refunds handled?

A.

 

Please review our Cancellation and Refund Policy. Note that cancellations due to weather conditions are not usually permitted.

Travel insurance can protect your vacation investment if unforeseen circumstances require you to cancel your trip.

What about travel arrangements?

A.

 

We are happy to advise you on your travel arrangements, including car rentals, ground transfers, and Akumal services.

What type of pre arrival instructions should I expect?

A.

 

In addition to driving directions, you will  be provided with the name and telephone number of on-site management, full check-in instructions and emergency contact numbers both in the US and Mexico. Please do not contact management prior to arrival. We are happy to answer any questions you have. The on-site management is there to help you if you have any problems with the property, questions about the area, or require some assistance.

What happens when I arrive at the property?

Depending on your time of arrival, you will be sent detailed instructions on what to do when you arrive.

What if there is a problem during my vacation?

A.

 

Our on-site management staff is there to help you resolve any problems you may have with your accommodations, as quickly as possible. In addition to the on-site office, which is staffed during normal business hours, emergency contact numbers will be included with your confirmation voucher. Contact information for the Akumal Direct local representative will be included in pre-arrival instructions and posted in the rental. Again, the on-site staff to which you are directed to contact will be your best resource to resolve any issue quickly.

What happens when I leave?

A.

 

We ask that you leave your unit tidy and do not remove any linens, electronics or other property from the unit. However, please no that we pride ourselves on our excellent housekeeping staff, so don’t worry about the dishes!

When you are ready to leave a representative of our on-site staff should check you out of the property, and assuming there is no damage, will refund any security deposit paid in cash.

What recommendations do you have for tipping?

A.

 

First, we want you to know that tipping is done at your discretion. We want you to enjoy your visit to the Riviera Maya and feel that you have received value for your dollar. We are also very proud of the people who care for our properties and encourage you tip whenever you feel appropriate. We recommend an average tip of $1 - $3 per person, per night for the housekeeping staff and $2 - $5 per night for the grounds and maintenance staff. These are only guidelines. Any tips should be reflect your satisfaction with the service you have received and the quality of your accommodations.

Tips can be left in the unit, or with the staff or management.

Will I need special electrical adapters?

A.

 

If you are traveling from the U.S. no adapter will be needed. Most properties are equipped with standard electrical outlets of 110 V. If traveling from other areas an adapter may be needed.
