Description

Playa Blanca is best known for its two, third floor three bedroom units. These units are bright and spacious with beautiful views of Half Moon Bay and the Mexican Caribbean. Playa Blanca offers a great opportunity for a comfortable beach front vacation rental on Half Moon Bay. It is centrally located, within easy walking distance to Akumal's commercial center along Akumal Bay Beach, Yal-Ku Lagoon and several restaurants and services located nearby.

Each three bedroom unit offers guests a fully equipped kitchen, dining area which seats six or more, breakfast bar and living area, all with gorgeous views of Akumal's Half Moon Bay.

- The spacious master bedroom is furnished with a king bed and offers a large private bath with an oversized shower.

- The first guest bedroom is furnished with a double and a single bed.

- The third bedroom is also furnished with a king bed and a single trundle bed.

Each bedroom has its own private bath. The third bedroom in addition to having an interior door, also has its own private access increasing the privacy of guests.

Fresh ocean breezes are a constant in these upper level units. The large oceanside terrace is well furnished with table and chairs. This is great place to watch marine life, including sea turtles, parrot fish and eagle rays, feeding and at play in Half Moon Bay.

KINDLY NOTE: During the summer months, south winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Riviera Maya. Please know that our onsite teams work very hard to ensure the best possible beach conditions for your stay. As a consideration, you may also see special seasonal discounts applied to during the summer months.

We have a great list of activities and adventures completely unaffected by the arrival of sargasso that we would love to share with you. Beautiful condo with a breathtaking view of Half Moon Bay. The rooms were airy and the glass windows bringing in the sea breeze was so relaxing! I loved the security provided for all of the condominiums along our stretch. The locals were wonder as well! I, personally, apologize for it not being as clean as I would have liked, but the three others in our party needed to get back. There were tons of great reading options to choose from while lounging on the patio or down on the beach! Thank you again for being such wonderful hosts and we look forward to staying in the future!

The property is exactly as the pictures show. The property is gorgeous. We felt very spoiled. We enjoyed the sunrise every morning from the front deck and the sunset from the back desk. There is daily housekeeping service, which we did not expect and the welcome basket was a really cool touch. This unit is decorated beautifully and the layout very comfortable. The pool is cozy, perhaps a bit cloudy, but every effort is made the keep the property spotless. The beach was littered with seaweed but should be expected here. There is a small story across the street and there are several restaurants within walking distance. The community is gated so you will feel safe, and the property has a security person at night in the event you need anything. Would book again in a heartbeat!

We loved the feeling and relaxed vibe at Half Moon Bay in Akumal. We could walk to many great restaurants, a small market across the street and our favorite little cafe The Jungle Cafe!! We walked to the Yal Ku Lagoon for snorkeling and had such a relaxing time on the beach. There was some Grass/seaweed that kept blowing in on the beach and it was quite windy but most days we could still swim at the beach. A couple days the surf was just too rough. But we had a lovely time soaking up the sun and reading, relaxing, and swimming/snorkeling.

Playa Blanca #7 is a charming 3-bedroom condo overlooking Akumal's Half Moon Bay. It comes with daily maid service and is located in Akumal Norte which is quiet and pretty and NOTHING like Cancun. Half Moon Bay is rocky but has good snorkeling when the water is calm (not winter, perhaps?). It's walkable to 3 Akumal Norte restaurants easily and the main Akumal restaurants in about 15-20 minutes. The apartment is clean and has the best-equipped kitchen I've ever had in a rental. The only thing I'd change is the large number of Mexican sculptures and art doo dads that bedeck most of the flat surfaces (including the shower niches and bathroom counter). We were constantly worried we'd break something. In all, we loved it and would definitely come back.

This is a great place to stay. The unit was very clean, amazing view and spacious! The building is close to the lagoon and the public beach. Not to mention the beach were the building is nice also. Only thing, bring water shoes as coming into the building's beach has corals, but the water is amazing and you can even do some snorkeling.

The staff is very nice and friendly and the communication was great :)

My family had an awesome stay at Playa Blanca unit 7. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable. The service provided by the staff was unprecedented. It's right on the beach and the turtles came up to the beach to lay eggs numerous nights. It's close to the town and shops. We will definitely stay here again.

We did not end up staying here, but I very much appreciate the honest management. Mari told us about the construction close-by and we decided to stay elsewhere. Hope we can stay here next time... Akumal is wonderful!

Very happy with our choice to stay @ Playa Blanca, unit 7. Love Half Moon Bay, although it does tend to be windy in January, we had 2 calm days that we took advantage of the snorkeling. Saw 3 turtles and many varieties of fish.
The location of this condo is great for walking to Yal-Ku lagoon and many eating places.
The kitchen was well stocked with the necessary utensils and the dining and kitchen area as well as the living area was very easy to move about for 6 people.
I love love love the arrangement of the master bedroom with the wooden shutters. Have never seen this before and I thought it was really cool. Only can think of 2 downsides and they are no biggies.
One, I wish the master bathroom shower had frosted glass instead of clear. I felt like I was possibly visible.
Two, the third bedroom is a little small.
But these two are not even enough to take a point away.....
Oh, also the balcony was a wonderful place to have morning coffee and enjoy a good book in the evening...........

Don't think I'll go back there. Furniture was so very uncomfortable and painful. Beds werd great tho. Great location on Half Moon Bay. Nicely kept beach. So as you can see the only thing keeping me away is the furniture.

Half Moon Bay is a beautiful location and Playa Blanca is a great condo. Waking up to a sunrise over the bay was a wonderful way to start the day. We enjoyed snorkeling, walks on the beach, and using bikes to explore Akumal Pueblo. There were plenty of restaurants within walking distance and we had some amazing meals. Plus, it was easy to catch a collectivo if we wanted to explore other towns.
The staff at the condo were friendly and very helpful. We’ve stayed at this place twice now and would highly recommend it to others.

The unit was clean. It was roomy. The location was excellent. Half moon bay is so much less congested than the beach in the main part of Akumal. It was good swimming right in front of our condo.

Our family's 2023 Christmas vacation destination was a week at the Playa Blanca condos in Akumal. We relaxed the minute we arrived in the clean, spacious condo with a beautiful ocean view and direct access to the beach. Our concierge David helped us line up some great excursions and our maid Rami made sure we had everything we needed. Perfect location for a beach vacay with a friendly coffee shop and several good restaurants on the beach a short walk away. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our stay in playablanca #7. The condo had all the items a renter could need. A beautiful view from the top floor deck, the sound of the waves was so relaxing. The place is walk able to a few restaurants with in 5-10 min and the center of town in 15-20 depending on your speed. We did not need a vehicle. The concierge set us up with great transportation to and from the airport.
We had a little trouble with the hot water on our first day but the facilities personnel were able to fix it right away. Condo #7 is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Lots of space to hang out inside or on the deck as well as the beach palaas.
Our only negative was that the neighbors were smokers and when we were both outside it was not pleasant for us due to the cigarette and cigar smoke. I would recommend this vacation rental for sure!

We have stayed in Akumal years before. We were happy to see it had retained it’s charm. Tulum is another matter. The condo was fantastic. The views, the access, the daily cleaning service, the property management were all wonderful. We had some issues with the refrigerator, they were prompt at sending repairmen to resolve. Being three doors down from the fun La Buena Vida restaurant was a bonus, especially since the seaweed was pretty awful and we could have lunch and utilize their pool. This is a great place to stay to snorkel with turtles, in the lagoon, quick drive to caves, cenotes, zip lining, monkeys, Mayan ruins. I hope Akumal resists the resort push from the rest of the riviera maya, this place is a true gem!

Our condos had the sweetest ladies to clean our condo for us daily and change shower linens when needed.. we like to reuse to cut down on water. The view was spectacular in Half-Moon Bay! Easy walking distance to La Buena Vida and La Lunita, there’s also parking if you choose to drive. You CANNOT miss walking up to the top deck! The jungle is behind you and the gorgeous bay and ocean laid out in front of you with chairs to sit and relax and take it all in. Would and have already definitely recommended this a condominium complex as there is 24 hour security and the hostesses are incredibly amazing and very quick to respond!

Beautiful condo right on Half Moon Bay. Great location. In between Akumal Bay and Yal Ku. The staff was amazing..

Winter getaway

This property was clean, attended to regularly, spacious and had an amazing view of the ocean. I watch the sunrise every morning and listened to the gentle surf. It was VERY relaxing!

The condo was perfect...lots of room for 5 women, especially with 3 bathrooms. The shower in 4oom three didn't have much pressure, so washing your hair was a challenge. The beach would gave been incredible, but mother nature had sargassum laid put thickly on our doorstep. Just a few minutes walk away in either was clear. You definitely need water shoes though. Great little store for the basics a 2 min walk away. Very comfortable beds, good selection of utensils & dishes & an appreciated supply if potable water. Patio chairs are uncomfortable.

It's not that you wake up out of a dream and find yourself in paradise, but that is about what happened. My wife and I were lucky enough to be great friends with a couple who have stayed in Akumal several times over the years. They have always been a little on the adventurous side so when they told us stories about their stay we were always transfixed. So when they decided to renew their twenty fifth year wedding vows on a beach somewhere then Akumal was the place for them. It didn't take to much arm twisting. So with their encouragement and our need for a vacation, my wife and I packed up and headed to Akumal. Since we arrived in late from the airport and didn't get into the condo until dark, it wasn't until the morning that they dream became a reality. Our third floor condo had one of the most beautiful ocean views I have ever seen. With the sliding door open you could hear the waves and feel the wonderful ocean breezes. The unit was beautifully decorated and had all the amenities you could want (kitchen, TV, Stereo, colorful furnishings). I thought it was pretty funny when my wife initially complained about the noise of the waves but then realized this is why people pay so much to live on the beach. What I liked about Akumal the most was that whatever you wanted to do you could do it. Whether it was swimming, fishing, hiking, visiting the cenotes or just relaxing, it was all available. Our friends all got together, and with a local band we walked down the beach to where they had their ceremony. It was great. I definitely think we will be back. I would love stay in the same condo. This time I think we would do a little more relaxing.

A great escape from the crowds in Cancun and such a pleasant experience to step out from your room and walk into the waters of Half Moon Bay and snorkel with turtles and such a variety of fish.

We had a wonderful vacation. The condo was large, clean, and in a perfect location. The maids are excellent. We are looking forward to returning. The only problem has been with the car rental agency (Easy Way). The car had an expired date on the back window & we were pulled over by the police. It took Easy Way 3 days to fix the problem. Two full days that we did not have a car. They are not affiliated with Akumal Direct but were recommended. We are still waiting to hear from them to see if they will credit us in any way. But beside the car issue, everything was great. We now know why so many people return to Akumal year after year.

The reason why I rated the property manager so unhelpful is because, for first few days I coulding find the office that serviced the unit I rented. Some other manager from a differnet office said you just go in and it will be unlocked.
I just happened to find the manager when visiting friends a few buildings down and saw my name on a paper taped to the front window of the office. Everyhting else was great.

Loved Akumal but would have prefered better snorkeling in front of condo. Would have liked to know where we were to meet Javier? our mgr beforehand. He was very helpful when we did hook-up!

Property was clean but need to get rid of ants in kitchen area. We didn't leave food out but still were present. Staff was very courteous and helpful!Love to rent another place with better snorkeling in Akumal area not far from town.

You never know for sure what you're getting when you reserve online, but your team assured me this place was a match with what I was looking for. It was AMAZING. Beautiful property, well kept grounds, right on the beach and in a quiet part of Mexico. My fiance and I will definitely be returning to Akumal and booking through Akumal Direct. Ideally situated right on Half Moon bay! This 3BR, 2BA unit is immaculate with your own private beach!

I was there with my family and our neighbors family (4 adults and 4 babies)in Feb 2010. A great example of their professionalism, was that they promised to have (2) cribs and (2) highchairs available for the kids and sure enough they did! From start to finish, Akumal Direct was professional and everything was 100%taken care of!

I cannot speak high enough of their new property manager, Balta. He took care of all of our needs and was very friendly and super-helpful during our stay.

Grab this unit if you can! I know I'll be back next year!

Playa Blanca is in a great location on the beach on Half Moon Bay and Unit 7 has a stellar view from the terrace and the master bedroom. The property is well-maintained and all the employees are very friendly. The kitchen and living area were well stocked with everything we needed.
The three bedrooms and three bathrooms were adequate for our group (an adult couple, an infant, a toddler, and a single adult).The two bedrooms/two bathrooms at the front of the unit became the family wing and the master bedroom became the princess suite. It was very easy to be together or be separate as needed. A very short walk to both La Buena Vida and La Lunita made for easy mealtimes.

Stunningly beautiful, very comfortable, well equipped, well located accommodation. Two nearby restaurants, one with very creative dishes, yet reasonable prices, one more traditional yet delicious, both excellent service. More eateries a 15 minute walk to the main beach area.

Feb. 2008. We stayed in Playa Blanca #7 for 3 weeks. We had also stayed in #7 in Feb. 2006 for 3 weeks. This unit has a great balcony, lots of room for the table, chairs and hammock. Being on the 3rd floor it has a wonderful view of the beaches and out to the water. The unit has an open kitchen, living room, dining room layout so it was great for having the whole family for dinner. This year we had 3 couples and 2 small children and it worked fine. The railing on the balcony is not child proof (2 rails only - see picture). The maids were excellant. They were there 7 days a week and everything was spotless. The location is an easy walk to the Lagoon (10 min) and about a 20 min walk to the store, shops and market. There are several good resturants within a 5-10 min. walk. They are making some inprovements to the roof top area and it was a great place to watch the lunar eclispe. The kitchen has most things for cooking simple meals. There is no oven, however there is a microwave. Management was fine although we missed Hector. Danny is working on his English and I'm sure it will improve with time. One person in our group spoke fluent Spanish which was helpful when we had some specific questions. This unit is well priced and a bargin for 3 couples or a larger family. We made our arrangements through Akumal Direct and they did a great job. We were coordinating 4 families (grandparents, parents and grandkids) for this vacation and they made it work well at reasonable cost.

We had an amazing time staying in this unit. We loved all the local art and the amazing views. The maid worked hard daily to keep the place spotless. We would definitely like to come back to stay again.
