"Excellent Condo on Half Moon Bay"

My family stayed in condo #12 in the Playa Caribe building for 5 nights in July 2017. We rented a two bedroom/ two bath unit on the fourth floor.
Pros: Gorgeous view; very clean and tastefully decorated; ample hot water; great HVAC; spacious; nice bath and beach towels; good staff; well cared for property; Netflix
Cons: pillows were a bit hard (this is very minor); wifi seemed weak at times
Recommndations: No elevator, so don't rent on the 3rd or 4th floor if stairs are a problem. I liked the added privacy and didn't mind the stairs. Rent a golf cart in order to go into town easily. We wish we had.
Condo #12 was terrific for my family (myself, my husband and two teens). The master is closed off from the living room with a louvered door and curtain so note that the privacy is not 100%. The condo is very nice with two super clean and very nice bathrooms. The kitchen seemed well stocked, but I didn't cook. If we return to Akumal, I would stay in this condo again. The view of the bay is just gorgeous.

We had a wonderful time staying at Playa Caribe as a group of four adults and two small children. Unit #12 fit us all perfectly. We moved to unit 8 for the last three days of vacation, and it was definitely tighter for our crew, so I’d recommend the corner units for families . The whole experience was really fun for us, with beautiful sunrises and sweeping views of the Caribbean. It was easy enough to walk over to a few nearby restaurants to grab lunch or dinner, and the kitchen at #12 had everything to cook with. We will definitely come to stay here over fighting the crowds at busy resorts! Also, this building is within a gated community, and it is really safe to walk around :)

We were looking for a place to escape the winter dreariness of Virginia. Friends, who have stayed in Akumal for several yrars, suggested Playa Caribe. Beach was right there & snorkeling on the reef was excellent. Lack of an elevator (for older guests) and a washer/dryer were a challenge.

We had a excellent stay at Playa Caribe.very well located , close to restaurants, short walk from Yal-Ku lagoon.The pool is clean, deep and has a superb view. The personel was very ehlpful, friendly and welcoming. OUr unit was very well catered, very clean, excellent bedding/towel.

This was our second time staying at Plata Caribe, and yet again, it did not disappoint! Here’s what we loved about our stay: the views (feels like you’re staying on top of the water), access to great snorkeling just steps away (we saw a turtle!), a well-stocked kitchen (with lots on unexpected, but useful appliances, like a crockpot, juicer, mixer), the jug of drinking water, daily cleaning service, restaurants just down the street, the clean pool (a great place to relax with a drink), and the overall low-key vibe. We’ll definitely be back!!

We loved our stay at Playa Caribe condo 12. The view was gorgeous, and the condo was well equipped, spacious, beautifully decorated and clean. Half Moon Bay is a quiet snorkeling beach in the busy Mayan Riviera. An oasis of calm.
The are several restaurants close by. Make sure to have a beach meal at La Buena Vida, fresh juice or Mexican chocolate and breakfast at La Jungla and a most excellent lunch at Imeldas (the best food). And cross the highway for fresh tortillas, fruit and local food.
If you are looking for tshirts to bring home there is a local man who designs and silk screen prints beautiful shirts directly across from La Buena Vida (support local!).
And the snorkeling doesn't get better than Yal Ku Lagoon and Half Moon Bay.

I celebrated my retirement with 3 friends and what an amazing time. Playa Caribe #12 was very well appointed. I've never stayed in a rental with so many tools in the kitchen! The unit is beautifully decorated and the Lanai had amazing views. The Staff on site were so helpful and the maid was such a sweetie. We enjoyed La Lunita, and all the restaurants in Akumal. Snorkeling in Yal-Ku Lagoon is a must as it is just down the road. We rented a car, but I think on my next visit, I will just rent a bike to get around. You can walk to town. It is only about 20 minutes. If you are planning to eat in for breakfast and lunch, I would suggest stopping at the Super Chedrau in Peurta Adventuras on your way to Akumal. Way cheaper than the Super Chomak in Akumal. I would definitely stay at Playa Caribe again, but I will stay in a unit that is not on the top floor!! Way too many stairs for us.

It is a wonderful place. The building manager Augustin and Pablo were so helpful, making sure we had everything we needed it was a joy to be there. I look forward to visiting again.

We stayed in Akumal a few times. This trip was the 1st one to stay at Playa Caribe. We stayed in Unit #12 on the top floor. The whole complex is very well maintained and this unit, along with the other ones we saw, were well decorated. Right in the middle of Half-Moon bay. We would definitely stay here again!

This condo was awesome. The location is just amazing and I highly recommend staying here.

The unit itself is very clean and it has a lot of charm with all the decor. The views from the balcony are amazing. The water had seaweed for a few days but then it moved right along. Keep in mind the seaweed is an important part of the ocean ecosystem and a reason the turtles live here so it didn't bother us. We snorkeled and saw rays and all kinds of amazing fish.

We felt very safe as this part of the area is gated and you must have a pass to enter. You could walk to the 2 main restaurants and the market right across the street was awesome. The staff were great and helpful.

Our family of four cannot wait to return!

We loved our stay here with the restful nights, pool to cool, and soft sandy beach located close to a couple restaurants. Staff were friendly and helpful.

I really love how relaxed this place was! It was clean and beautiful and a super comfortable stay. We stayed in 3 different rentals while we were in Mexico and this one was my favorite!
My only complaint is that I received check in info the morning of which was a little stressful because I expected to get it much earlier and no one messaged me back on the VRBO app.

The only inconvenience was climbing four sets of stairs. I'm not sure if we knew beforehand that there would be no elevator. We were capable of the climb, but feel this should be disclosed to future tenants.

Our condo was perfect. Augustine was available and helpful for everything we could possibly need. The convenience store almost directly across the street is sooo convenient for quick snacks, drinks, sunscreen, and any needs that don't warrant a walk to town. The views are incredible. This building is our favorite in Akumal, and we now have a new favorite unit...#12! Yes, there is a seaweed season and it's a pain and the beach has washed out a little, but it's a cycle...we will be back!
