Great spot
Reviewed on 2026-09-30 by , Denman Island, BC CAStayed here with 5 adults and 3 children and it was perfect. Akumal is a lovely, very safe spot to wander and the property was amazing. Was amazing to have the choice to swim or snorkel right off the beach or lounge by the pool. Several restaurants within walking distance and golf cart rentals very near by. The company was great to work with and very friendly.

We had no issues with the lockbox and gaining entry to the home. The listing clearly state that only the bedrooms have air conditioning, and the main living area heats up when the windows are closed. The kitchen/dining/living room are all one open area with floor to ceiling sliding doors that open up to the sea breeze and waterfront view. The kitchen was fully stocked with the basics, including a coffee maker and filters.
Bedroom #1 on the main floor had 2 double beds and the only access to the main floor bathroom. We chose to stay in bedroom #2 which is the first bedroom up the stairs. It had a king bed, ensuite washroom, and amazing ocean views. Bedroom #3 with the 3rd washroom is a self-contained unit with 2 single beds and is accessed by walking across the roof terrace.
The back yard is waterfront with a palapa perfect for breakfast or cocktails. Stairs lead down to the water where to a cute sandy area with loungers. The beach is rocky, water shoes with rubber soles are a must! We snorkelled a few times and saw some tropical fish and colourful patches of coral. The water is shallow and we had to wade out a fair bit. The outdoor shower was great to rinse off afterwards.
The villa was spotless and offers daily housekeeping by the lovely Dahlia, as well as ground keeping. I was startled a few times to hear someone in the yard while enjoying the pool. Be mindful to draw the curtains when dressing as there can be someone in the yard. For us personally, we would have valued more privacy with less frequent services.

Oceanfront stay with a private pool

The house and yard were cleaned and maintained daily and kept spotless and immaculate. The employees working at the home and at the office were responsive and helpful with everything we needed. Only complaint is that the living room/kitchen area does not have AC and gets quite warm even with the windows open.

Top notch views and location

The place is well kept and it is nice to have concierge service included. We were all very happy with the place - walkable to several good restaurants and very close to Yal Ku lagoon. The setting is incredible. Our one small and odd issue was that a toilet seat was removed halfway through our stay and not returned or replaced? Just weird but did not really impact the stay all that much. Would recommend!

Half Moon Bay Elegance

Wonderful family vacation!

We went to celebrate my 80th birthday and my daughter’s 44th. The place is gorgeous and walking distance to good eateries. We did not need a car which was a plus. The view is spectacular. The hold space open and airy. The bedrooms and common areas both in and outside are a delight. The bedrooms are totally separate from each other which is a plus. The kitchen is very functional and we made most of our own meals. We brought our own snorkeling equipment and SUPs. The folks at LocoGringo were very helpful- we only wish we’d met them in person but were too busy doing stuff. We were all entranced by the iguana, agoutis, coatamundis & birds. The woman who cleaned and man who cared for the outdoors were wonderful.<br/><br/>Only downsides: There are many stone steps which could be a problem for less able guests. Bathrooms are only accessible through bedrooms.
