In the future, I'll pay more heed to other reviews, because lack of hot water had been mentioned. It's so unfortunate that Unit 13 hasn't been maintained. We truly enjoyed our 2019 stay in the same unit. This time, in addition to absolutely no hot or even warm water, there were other clear signs of lack of maintenance: the main bath sink leaked into the cabinet and an attempted repair was made with black electrical tape, a large and lovely pierced metal sun wall sconce no longer had electrical, another lovely terracotta pendant was inoperable, a reading chair has been removed from the living area, the living area couch cushions were dirty and smelly, the main kitchen drawer dropped toward the floor, the kitchen granite appears as if someone spilled oil and it has penetrated and darkened/stained. I love the location of La Sirena and would return in a heartbeat if the unit was overhauled. We slept well because the bed and sheets were very comfortable. In case anyone thinks we have Ritz-Carlton expectations, no; we've been vacationing in Akumal since the 1980's and have never had an unsatisfactory accommodation. We felt very lucky that the next day, LocoGringo moved us to another condo that showed complete pride of ownership (Playa Caribe 4.) Sad to say, I can only recommend Unit 13 for the view and for sleeping.

We had a couple of maintenance issues pop up during our stay, and Francesca and her team were very quick to fix them and we had no complaints. La Sirena condos are at the very end of Half Moon Bay, about one mile from Akumal beach activities. The location requires either a car, golf cart or bike to get to/from Akumal central. There were bikes at La Sirena but unfortunately they were not included in the price of the unit. An additional $8 (US) per bike, per day was required. As feedback for the property management, I would have liked to see these bikes offered as complimentary rentals included in the weekly rental price. That aside, we really enjoyed our week, and the fact that housekeeping kept our 5 gallon fresh water dispenser stocked all week was so essential!

This is a great location on Halfmoon Bay. The snorkeling in the middle of the bay is wonderful and it's super handy to have Yal Kul just up the road. It's a pleasant walk to Akumal Beach for shops and more snorkeling. We did not need a car, thanks to Steve & Suzette's kindness to help us with some groceries! We highly recommend AK restaurant, Chino was so friendly and entertaining! La Lunita up the road was lovely. The La Sirena condo residents/owners and the maintenance team were all so friendly and helpful with the issues we had with the hot water in our unit. We finally got it sorted out after our first week. It took a while and it was frustrating but everyone was so responsive that we just rolled with it. The water pressure is low, typical for Mexico? Daily maid service and water delivery was great to have. The kitchen in unit 13 is nicely stocked with plenty of glassware and options for cooking. The bedding and towels are ready for replacement though. Overall the condo was very comfortable and clean. The garden and pool area at this condo is beautiful, calm and relaxing. It is very well maintained, loved it! Make sure you get to know Kilo :) We had an awesome vacation here!

Quiet location as we wanted as my teenage grandchildren are autistic and struggle with noise. Having apartments next to each other worked brilliantly and they were both so well appointed.
Pools were lovely and I was able to use them despite my disability! Beautiful gardens too.
Taxis very expensive though and didnt always turn up!
Not given any checkout details but that's a minor issue!

We just came back from 9 days at La Sirena (#13). The property is very nice, very clean & well-maintained. It is in an awesome location for snorkeling and diving. The Yel-ku lagoon is literally across the street (like a 3 min walk) and the residence's beach has some phenomenal snorkeling itself.

The area is also very safe & quiet. About 4-5 restaurants were walking distance, with another 3-4 2km (1.5 mile) away. Most of them really good, though with US-level prices.

The apartment itself is quite roomy and very nicely decorated, offering fantastic views. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to find that a lot of "essentials" were provided, some probably left by previous guests: soap, shower gel, shampoo, kitchen stuff like salt, spices, etc. We did our part and added olive oil, vinegar, etc.

The king-size beds have great mattresses and good pillows. Cleaning lady came everyday and addressed all our requests (fresh bedsheets & towels mid-stay, etc.)

What's missing:
- a washer / dryer: for a long-ish stay like ours, this was a bit more than an annoyance. While we were able to have our laundry done in the pueblo, the area is so humid that nothing, absolutely nothing, dries: towels, swimsuits, etc. stayed wet all the time. Sunny weather would have helped but unfortunately we had about 7 days of rain out of 9.

The kitchen also lacks a dishwasher — not a huge deal but prepare to wash a lot of dishes manually if you eat a lot at home.

Last thing: the master bedroom is separated from the living room by ... glass windows + light sheets. So don't expect much privacy there. The adjoining bathroom has also a translucent glass wall, so even less privacy. Again, not a huge thing but some people might be a bit disturbed by what is a but unusual.

All in all: yes, I would recommend to a friend, with the caveats above.

I went here for my birthday. The house was so cozy and staff were very helpful. I loved the scenery. Waking up in the morning to the beautiful sea. What I found exceptional is how safe it is. The gardens, the pool, the oceanfront balcony and the beach palaces were all perfect. The condo was very clean, fully equipped and wonderfully comfortable for our month long stay. Akumal is as safe as it gets, with lots to do up and down the Riviera Maya.

It was an absolutely fantastic stay. The grounds are beautiful and the suite was amazing with both sunrise and sunset views. Well equipped kitchen, comfy beds and views from every direction.

We had a great stay at La Sirena Unit 13. In addition to its excellent location, this condo was the best equipped rental we've ever stayed in. It has everything you could possible need for a great vacation. Combined with snorkeling out your front door, a fabulous pool, and a lovely terrace to relax on and watch the ocean, this is a great North Akumal option.

We loved the condo and the view it offers. The condo offered everything we needed....kitchen appliances, utensils, etc. The balcony was our favorite place to sit and relax. The staff at the property were helpful and kind. I must add that the pool was amazing!

Can't recommend Akumal and La Sirena enough. Fantastic location in Maya Riveria, not crowded, convenient to Tulum and Playa Del Carmen. Half Moon Bay (right in front of porpoerty) and Yal Ku lagoon (a 3 minute walk from the property) are fantastic for snorkeling. Great places to eat in Akumal from the inexpensive to fine dining.

We stayed in Unit #13. It actually looks like the pictures - even better in fact. Beautiful views, calm and peaceful surroundings. My kids really enjoyed the pool. Staff was very helpful and friendly. This is a great place to stay if you are looking for peace and quiet in a paradise-like setting. We are already planning another trip.

This is an outstanding location for a SCUBA diving vacation. The property was in great condition. The local restaurants were excellent. The snorkeling in the lagoon was spectacular and we were in easy proximity to the Cenotes. The only negative was the lack of internet access and the condo itself could have been a little cleaner.

La Sirena exceeded our expectations. Our jaws dropped when we walked onto the property and saw the pool, then we saw the view from the condo. Wow, was all we could say. Akumal Direct did a superior job, we would definitely recommend the service to all our friends. Thanks so much!!!
