We stayed 17 nights in this condo, and we hated to leave. It was well furnished and immaculate, with wifi that was adequate, even for streaming programs on a laptop.
Over the years, we have stayed multiple times at almost every condo complex on Half Moon Bay; Playa Caribe is our favorite. Service from the staff was great; when we reported a malfunctioning refrigerator, the office sent a repair crew immediately and then brought in a new refrigerator within a few hours.
Half Moon Bay itself is one of the few relatively quiet places on this stretch of the Maya Riviera. After spending a day on the beachfront near Tulum, we marveled at Akumal's tranquility.
Even so, we found multiple good restaurants within an easy walk of Playa Caribe; our favorites included La Lunita, La Buena Vida, Taverna, LolHa beach bar and Turtle Bay bakery. The tiny convenience store across the street from Playa Caribe is surprisingly well stocked, and everything else we needed was available in stores near the entrance arch or else across the highway where farmers sell fresh produce at a small market.
A few downsides: Half Moon Bay is rocky along the shore so you need good water shoes in order to swim there. Condo #10 has no real oven, only a small toaster oven; we could not, for example, heat a pizza unless we did it slice by slice. The climb to the 4th floor could be daunting or downright impossible for some people.
Having said that, we want to go back. The view from the living area and balcony is exactly as shown in the listing -- stunning.

Playa Caribe is exactly as described. We stayed in #10. Patty our housekeeper was wonderful. The condo was fully equipped with everything needed for a family to stay for many days and enjoy home cooking when it is wanted. The beach is rocky so take water shoes so you can walk into the ocean. Playa Caribe is close to many restaurants. Highly Recommend!!

We appreciated the location on quiet Half Moon Bay, the pool and beach lounge chairs, gracious staff and very well equipped kitchen. This was the nicest vacation rental we've experienced anywhere. In the future we would bring more pesos for tips, bike rentals and restaurants that take cash only. The ATM's nearby don't work. If you can stop for groceries at the Chedraui supermarket on the way from the airport, a car is not necessary in Akumal, the airport transfer booked thru Akumal Direct worked very well. We enjoyed visiting the ruins in Tulum (requires a car or driver), walking or biking to the Akumal Bay beach and nearby restaurants, especially Imelda's Ecococina.

We usually stay at all inclusive resorts for the convenience when we are with our kids but we wanted to try something new so we could do more adventures. This condo was perfect! It is spacious, clean, the kitchen is well stocked with everything you need, and the view is unbelievable. There were great restaurant options that everyone in our family enjoyed. Our stay in Akumal was amazing. The condo was clean, comfortable, and welcoming.this place had everything we needed. I did notice that the condo was much better than the pictures on the booking site showed.

I found out that the owners have a golf cart that can be rented. We just had to talk to the office manager. He was easy to work with and the golf cart looks almost brand new.

We have stayed on Half Moon Bay over 20 times over the years. The Playa Caribe is a nice spot and a nice building. We do not think that the pool was getting proper filtration and could not detect the pump ever operating during the 13 days of our trip. We brought this up to the host and he said that a person came first thing in the morning and ran the pump and cleaned the pool but we found that not to be the case. Unfortunately, the seaweed/sargasso problem is not going away. This is the worst we have ever seen it and nothing was being done by Playa Caribe despite several other properties at least making an effort to remove. This made the beach unbearable and the pool area unpleasant due to the sargasso smell. We were able to enter the bay at the far north and snorkel over five times. We saw the most sealife ever! Even though the weather wasn't the greatest we made the most of it and enjoyed our stay. A more efficient seaweed removal process needs to be put in place coordinated by all property groups to improve the experience since the seaweed is here to stay, it appears. Word is that a barrier is being installed soon across the bay. Even if this is somewhat successful, seaweed removal will be necessary. Thank you!

Our family had an amazing Akumal New Year's retreat. We met our extended family who stayed one floor below us and we all had a great time. Augustine was superb at making sure everything was in order and with any assistance we needed. We stayed in Unit 10 Playa Caribe and the furnishings are very nice and comfortable.

The condo was beautiful, clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The staff were all very professional and helpful. We really had very good time and will absolutely do it again.

The condo was great. Had everything we expected and more. It was close to Buena Vida restaurant for dinner out. The kitchen had all we needed for those days we decided to eat in. Which is great when traveling with young kids, we eat in more than out. The view was breathing taking. From the moment we stepped of the airplane, the people were friendly, helpful, and wonderful. I was really worried because we had some delays and were not going to arrive to the condo by 5 pm. I tried calling all the numbers I had but was only able to leave messages. I was really worried, but the staff at the condo left a note on the door with instructions and where our room key was located. During our stay the staff was great. Always willing to help and answers questions. The only thing reason I gave a four stars, was the need of an elevator. Our room was top floor but no elevator, but that was an oversight on our part. Had we known before we probably would not have rented the room. One recommendation I would make, assigning a golf cart to each room would be great. The condos are located almost in the middle of the hotel area, about 20-25 minutes walking distance to the lagoon (north of us) and the beach town (south). The walk in either direction is okay in the morning but by the afternoon it was difficult. The site has some carts but they need to be reserved days before. We used a great deal of taxis but after a while the cost adds up. Overall, the stay was amazing. Would definitely recommend the rental but will warn about the no elevator and walking.
