Great rental and location but Wifi not working :(

We stayed on the lower level, one bedroom that walks right out to the pool and ocean. The unit itself was very cozy and had everything that we needed. Kitchen with coffee maker, microwave, large fridge and sink. There were plenty of dishes and glasses.

It's clean and perfectly suited for a couple. It looks recently renovated. I loved how big the bathroom was and the shower has regular hot water- no issues there. I did find it odd that the neighbor had a back door to our patio. I think the other unit should close that door off. It seems this was originally one unit, split into two.

Our only issue was Wifi. Inside the unit, it is pretty much non-existent. I am not using Wifi for surfing the internet or fun- I had to work while I was there. I had to take my laptop to another location to get this work done which was frustrating. I never turned on the tv so I can't tell you if that was an issue. I've stayed in multiple locations in half moon bay, and this is the first time i've encountered this. It's probably an easy fix, so maybe this review will reach the right person!

The staff is very friendly and helpful as well! Nothing but nice things to say there.

I'd stay here again on a shorter trip where work isn't a concern - just so it comes across how pleased we were otherwise!

No More Half Moon Bay Stays For Me!

I got in yesterday 4/22 late afternoon / evening to an OK condo (I can make it work) but, here’s where I’m struggling...
* I realize no one can control Mother Nature but, it's the worst Seaweed Sargassum Bloom I've ever seen (and I've seen a few) - just got back from Dominican Republic in Feb and they were struggling BUT, they got on it every morning and not letting it lay / rot / draw all the flies nor let the trash lay in it (bottles, shoes, plastic, etc). Akumal Direct did send a warning but, only one week before (on 4/15 for a 4/22 trip).
* even the Sargassum grass could have been worked around BUT, there's no beach here... it's all been chewed away by the surf and not replaced. Aventuras Akumal has hundreds of feet of shoreline from the condos before the surf so some grass isn't as big of an issue there. Here, it's condos , lawn chairs, Sargassum grass water with No Where to walk / run / etc.
* everything I can find here to try and swim is all rocky bottom - No Beach Entry for those of us who want to swim / snorkel... it's miserable unless you wear shoes which doesn't work with fins!
* the bay is so shallow IF you can work through the pain of getting in the water barefooted, you Still Can't Swim because it's too shallow UNLESS you are willing to go dangerously far from the shoreline...
I'm the kind of person that when I really like something, I will come back over and over again (was already planning trips back to the area in July and Nov for my birthday this year) as well as will share my experiences with family & friends with recommendations for them to visit.
This isn't what I was hoping for and it's only early morning of day one being here with two weeks ahead of me...

While we can’t control Mother Nature, we do note seasonal conditions on our website and aim to keep guests informed that sargassum blooms are a possibility. During the months when the sargassum bloom is present, guests have noted and appreciated La Joya’s efforts, embracing the opportunity to explore the Riviera Maya’s rich culture.
