We spent 6 nights in condo A on the first floor. Ocean is 75 feet from the patio door, if that! This particular unit is decorated with charming Mexican folk art. It’s obvious that the owners wanted to create an authentic atmosphere. You know you’re in Mexico. Everything worked—AC, ceiling fans, appliances. Shower was good; kitchen well-equipped. Maid service as often as you wanted it. And quiet at night. Bit of a walk into town, but we figured that was license to eat all those chips that every restaurant brings to the table! There is one very good restaurant, Lunita, within maybe 3 blocks. We ate there 3 of the 6 nights. Definitely recommend this condo complex, specifically unit A.

This is a penthouse on the beach with 360 degree views what’s not to like. Walking distance to everything from snorkeling with the turtles to snorkeling in a cenote down the block filled with the most colorful fish. The best restaurants also right down the block. It’s a gated community so we also felt safe even at night. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

We stayed for 2 weeks here and thoroughly enjoyed the condo. We especially loved the sea view deck that stretched across the front of the living room and bedrooms - what a beautiful place to watch the sun come up or just relax. The condo is beautifully decorated and feels like home. There is daily maid service, so our stay was carefree. We would definitely stay here again!

I've stayed at Villas on the Reef in Akumal many, many times -- in excess of a dozen! So while I am a little biased, I can tell you, without a doubt, that you will be extremely satisfied with your stay. The condos are clean, spacious, and quiet. Half Moon Bay is absolutely THE place to stay if you book a vacation in Akumal, btw. It's far enough away from the main city of Akumal but close enough where it only takes about 5 minutes to drive there. Half Moon Bay is a separate bay from the bay that Akumal is on, which makes it more private. Snorkeling just outside the condo is amazing and you will see tons of reef wildlife, including sea turtles! This condo is perfect for people staying with kids since they are so spacious but also great for couples looking to honeymoon. Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions!

Having never been to Mexico before, we weren't sure what to expect. Staying at The Reef made our vacation experience exceptional! It was exactly what we wanted in a beachfront rental, the water front deck was large and it was so nice to have a second one on the jungle side. Inside was clean and spacious with everything you could need. Having daily maid service was a plus. Loved that the bedrooms were on opposite sides of the condo for privacy. Linda was very helpful in answering any questions that we had and Herme at the condo next door was very helpful and kind. Having the use of the bikes was very nice as we didn't rent a car or golf cart and made getting groceries easier. It was also lovely just to go for a leisurely ride to look around. It is very quiet and peaceful with not a lot of people on the beach. There is great snorkeling right outside of the condo, and wonderful restaurants right down the beach. We even walked to the main road and took a collectivo to Tulum to see the ruins. A very economical alternative to a taxi, which are plentiful in the town of Akumal, which was only about a 15 min walk or a 5 min bike ride from the condo. We would definitely rent The Reef Penthouse again and are telling everyone about it.

This property was a perfect location for our family, was really cheery with south of the border decor, easy to access, with very helpful and efficient people available at all times. I would highly recommend this to anyone!

This is our 2nd time to The Reef. We stayed for one night in November of 2016 and loved it so much we don't use our timeshare anymore in Playa Del Carmen. The beach in Half-Moon Bay is quiet the first part of November and has calm water to snorkel all the way out to the reef. The Reef Penthouse was amazing again! The art and decorations of the Reef are perfect for a beachfront home. The hammocks and views from both bedrooms, living room and kitchen are amazing! The Reef had snorkel gear in the black plastic container on the ocean side deck it came in handy as we could not fit all our snorkel gear in our suitcase. The air conditioning in both bedrooms are great and work excellent to cool the entire apartment quickly when both are running. We had some cooler days and opened up the front door and sliding doors and a wonderful breeze through the entire penthouse. There are plenty of utensils and cooking pans. We made breakfast and went out to eat at the 4 local restaurants. 2 of these restaurants are within walking distance. There is a 6 person dining table on the beachfront deck as well as 2 lounge chairs and hammocks where we had our breakfast and late night snacks. The dining room table inside the penthouse offered amazing views on 2 rainy days. We loved visiting the cenote lagoon that was within walking distance. And day trips to Tulum and Playa Del Carmen. Both are within 20 minutes for shopping. We will definitely be back!

Love vacationing in Akumal and have found another great condo. We had condo B ground floor on the beach. Everything we wanted. On the beach 30 seconds from the water, large living space, fully equipped kitchen. Staff were great, friendly and accommodating. Best bed I have ever had in Mexico. Hope to return soon!
