Description

La Tortuga #4 is located on the second level (one above the ground floor) overlooking the pool and the sparkling waters of Akumal's Half Moon Bay beyond!

This spacious and nicely appointed condo features 2 bedrooms, each with King sized bed plus the guest room has a single/individual sized bed. Both bedrooms have private bathroom with shower, and the master bedroom also has a giant sunken bathtub. There is a fold away camping style cot bed for a child or small adult should you require an extra bed.

It has a large open plan living and dining area with sliders that open out onto the terrace, affording great views out over the bay. The living room has comfortable seating and a small TV with satellite programming.

The kitchen is well equipped and includes a breakfast bar for extra dining seating. There is WiFi internet throughout the condo and air conditioning in the bedrooms.

Outside on the terrace that spans the width of the condo, are hammocks for snoozing in the warm Caribbean breeze!

Hacienda de La Tortuga boasts a very nice beach side pool, an onsite gourmet restaurant (La Lunita), and plenty of sun loungers and shady palapas on the white sandy beach in front. There is also WiFi access all the way out to the beach for those who like to stay connected while working on their tan!

Hacienda de la Tortuga is located in the northern central part of Half Moon Bay, within walking distance of plenty of amenities including the Akumal Adventures dive shop. The bay in front of the condo is great for snorkeling as the reef comes very close to the shore, and it is home to a wide diversity of marine life including endangered sea turtles!

Hacienda de la Tortuga #4 is comfortable and bright, and a perfect option for small families or groups of friends.

We had a great stay at the condo, my husband and I and another couple stayed for 9 days. Half Moon Bay is a quiet location, Akumal Bay is much more active/crowded, so depends on what type of stay you're looking for. The restaurant in the condo complex is very good. The Akumal Direct concierge, David, was extremely helpful, both before and during our stay. He arranged our shuttle from to and from the airport, a golf cart rental, a cenote excursion and a taxi to Playa for a shopping day. The sargassum grass was definitely prevalent, but it wasn't terrible in front of this condo. It was much worse on the south part of the bay. We were able to snorkel directly in front of the condo.

We absolutely loved our stay here! Akumal is beautiful and this unit was great for our family with small children. Relaxing and low key. Often we were the only ones in the pool and there are enough palapas at the beach for guests. The room has Mexican flair in decor - it is comfortable and spacious- you have two separate bedrooms, living and dining seating areas - plenty of room. The best is your own private ocean and pool view balcony with a full table and a hammock where we spent lots of time. For families with younger kids it’s wonderful to have sight lines between the room/balcony, the pool and the beach - everyone is happy and we could find moments for parents to have some time together and lots of family time and also space for everyone to do their own activity. Onsite restaurant is lively and has good food and drinks with kid options and excellent service - they will deliver to your room. We also booked Chef Daveed private chef service for a meal one night that was outstanding! Yal Ku Lagoon is a short walk for amazing biodiversity and you can snorkel off shore too. The staff at La Tortuga is very friendly - the place is very clean: Daily maid service and they clean the pool and rake the beach, tend to grounds daily. The beach does have coral rocks at entry so agree with water shoes needed. One note: balcony has a low cut out so would be careful for toddlers but it was a non-issue for our five year old. Would certainly stay here again and recommend it!

Hacienda Tortuga is a charming collection of condominiums in Half Moon Bay in Akumal. We rented a 2-br/2-ba ocean-view condo perfectly set up for two girlfriends traveling together. My friend loved the hammock on the terrace and having La Lunita downstairs was a bonus. We were able to eat and drink all day (including condo delivery service) and charge one total to a card at the end of the day. Bear in mind that the propina (tip) should be paid in cash each day, out of respect for the team that works there. They have a tamarind margarita with tamarind chili salt that was delicious. The condo kitchen has everything needed to settle in and live for four people. I was surprised and grateful that the fridge came pre-stocked with complimentary whole milk, a couple of beers and a couple of sodas. We also had a continuous supply of fresh drinking water. The bedrooms have individual air conditioners, note that the main living area did not. We had continuous, reliable internet and streamed the first 2 nights of Democratic Debates without interruption. The location is great, walking-distance to La Buena Vida and two small stores for basics (coffee, TP, snacks, cold drinks, etc.) Theres a nice pool and a great beach with palapas and loungers. Really, we couldn’t have asked for anything more and only wished we didn’t have to leave!! I highly recommend.

This condo is located in beach community which is essentially one long road with 4-5 story condos and small hotels along one side, which all sit on the beach. This condo is on the second floor and looks out at the ocean and the pool. The beach is really nice (seaweed is cleared away daily) and there are chairs for guests to use. Beautiful condo second floor walk up. Really nice, highly recommend. Right on beach; ocean view from porch nice but patially obscured by palm trees on adjoining undeveloped lot. Sand beach, lounge chairs and shaded thatched beach tables dedicated to condo owners and guests. Is rocky once into water, but sandy area just to north. Snorkeling very good. From beach you can look out and see a dark area with inverted “V” pointing in your direction maybe 100 yards out. You can literally walk all the way out. Beautiful extensive area of coral reef with tons of fish. Jus to the right of the “V” is an area of huge “head/brain” coral. Saw turtle, stingrays, all kinds of fish, huge mantra ray that totally freaked out another person. To really explore this entire area I would recommend a life jacket, but I was the only one who wore one. Not crowded at all. We had no problem with seaweed. So many changes over last 10 years, so much more tourist interest but still a great place to kick back. If you go to Yal-Ku lagoon, make sure you get there when it opens, never crowded before when we visited, but this time when we arrived at 1:00 pm on a weekday it was packed with snorkeled who kick up sand/sediment and obscure visibility. If you like wine, go to the convenience store a few hundred yards south on the left as you are driving towards the condo, decent selection with bottle prices as low as 180 pesos. La BuenavVida restaurant maybe one kilometer south of condo right on beach fun place for breakfast, dinner or lunch but when we were there slight smell of raw sewage was a turn-off. This smell is also prevalent at certain spots while driving to condo but we never noticed it at condo. We have gone to all the restaurants, best for dinner, by far, is “Taverna”, for breakfast, “turtle bay cafe and bakery”, be careful with turtle bay meals are so huge and good that you can overindulge limiting your ability to function.

Let me start by saying this condo lived up to all of our expectations. This was my first time staying in Mexico and my husband had only visited resorts in the past. We were looking for a condo that was more private than the resort style condos for our Honeymoon, Hacienda de la Tortuga Unit 4 did not disappoint! We like to do most of our own cooking while on vacation due to food allergies. We were able to find all the groceries we needed at the large grocery in Tulum and found all cookware and dishes to make whatever meal we desired in the condo. Enjoying meals and cocktails on the patio was wonderful. For a great dinner out right on the beach a walk down to La Lunita for some excellent shrimp tacos. We enjoyed a moonlit dinner on our first night in Akumal that was delicious. This condo is kept spotless due to the housekeeping staff who made sure every speck of sand was removed and we were greeted with new towel animals daily. Roberto is extremely helpful about anything you may want to see or do. There is a security guard out front who checks to make sure that you are guests at the condo and also patrols the property. The grounds are well maintained and the maintenance crew is constantly removing the seagrass and keeping the beach raked. We rented some snorkel gear a short walk from the condo at Akumal Dive Adventures and snorkeled right in front of the condo, in addition, to the beautiful fish and coral, we even saw Barracuda. If relaxing on a beach without a crowd of people and enjoying breathtaking views from your own comfy condo is your idea of vacation, then Hacienda de la Tortuga Unit 4 is for you.

A few things to consider for improvement was a new TV. The existing tube TV is Tiny and very old. A very inexpensive upgrade. The AC in the master bedroom is old and very noisy. replacement with a newer model like the other bedroom would be a good idea. Overall the place was comfortable and had everything we needed. The on-site property manager Roberto is awesome! speaks English very well and has great insight into local activities. Snorkeling was great right out front of the condo. Restaurant downstairs was very convenient although we found we preferred the others in Akumal more.

We loved the condo. Very clean, quiet and relaxing. We were surprised that we had maid service and tried to only use them a few times during our stay. We told the prop mgr about the switch that operated the bedroom ceiling fan was extremely hot and was giving off a bad electrical smell. He came and changed it out immediately. There were only a couple of items that I was slightly disappointed with: 1. The couch, which is made of cement, could use some new cushions. 2. An upgraded tv might be nice, but I know people don't watch tv on vacation, however, for those who like to watch the news, it would be mice.

The condo was so nice. We really enjoyed it. The beach is rocky and shallow but very nice. The location is about 1 mile from town and easily walkable. There are some areas, closer to the condo, or north akumal, that has very strong smells associated to it. I can only smell it out on the road, not while in the condo or by the beach.

The last thing I have to say and was very surprised with was the staff. The property staff just did not seem very helpful or friendly. But I am sure they are used to people coming and going and maybe not being very nice to them. So many different cultures are living in this small community and they all get along nicely.

We do plan to return because we enjoyed ourselves and relaxed so much!

Oh, the restaurant was amazing. So nice to go downstairs, without shoes, and enjoy some good food, drinks and service.

Clean, well equipped, large unit was perfect. Lovely ocean view, nice breeze, beach and pool amenities like chairs and palapas available. The property was well maintained. We had housekeeping services every day which we did not expect. Check in was easy. There is a good restaurant - La Lunita - on premises. Location was perfect, we visited several ruins sites, cenotes, Tulum, etc but nice to leave the more crowded areas behind at the end of the day and have a swim at half moon bay or the pool. We had both pretty much to ourselves the whole week we were there. We would definitely return. Great experience.

Very well-kept property. Nice that the restaurant is here if you don't want to leave the area for dinner. Location was perfect. Close to two other restaurants, walk to Akumal Beach to snorkel with turtles, walk to many restaurants, shopping, grocery in Akumal Bay, walk to lagoon Yal Ku to snorkel with amazing tropical fish, walk out onto your beach and snorkel right there at the hotel and see amazing things as well. Bring your own snorkel gear and shoes for the rocky beach to enter the ocean.

We absolutely loved this spot. The ease of going to the beach from our suite and the quiet setting was enhanced by a spacious, well stocked and very comfortable

Condo. There were 4 of us and both bedrooms were master suites. The balcony is huge. Daily housekeeping is certainly a bonus and certainly appreciated. A compliment to the building and management is the number of return visitors.

I have to mention the restaurant tucked into the building (LUNITA) is one of the finest restaurants you will run into in Mexico and you receive 15% off staying at Tortuga. I sincerely hope we can return another year and we are folks you always want to go somewhere different every trip and everywhere we travel.

We were surprised at how roomy the place seemed and spent 10 wonderful days during Christmas at hacienda de tortuga. The property manager stays on-site and even visited us one evening when our shower would not turn off! The restaurant downstairs was one of just a few good and eclectic ones in the tiny bay, and depending upon your activity level you can just walk to yak-ku (5 minutes) or akumal village (20 minutes). There is a 24-hour parking lot security person who walks you to the door at night, plus iguana, coatimundi, agouti, giant hermit crabs, and lots of American expats to socialize with if you like!

This was our first time back to Akumal in more than 10 years. The town has changed a bit but the incredible service from Akumal Direct/Loco ****** remains the same. We were very pleased with the condo and the personal service. Condo was clean and well-laid out. Pool was sparkling and the beach was cleaned each morning. The entire team at Hacienda de la Tortuga was very kind and helpful. La Lunita food is even better than I remember and the "new to me" cafe across the street is great.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hacienda de la Tortuga #4. We had stayed in this complex on our first visit to Akumal 22 years ago and little had changed. The unit was clean and spacious. The daily housekeeping service was a welcome treat. My husband and I enjoyed sitting on the patio overlooking the pool and ocean each evening. During the day, we could always find a place on the beach to relax and enjoy snorkeling and lying in the sun. We walked into the main part of Akumal each morning and evening for breakfast and dinner and loved the food at each place we tried. We took an airport transfer to and from Akumal and had no need for a car during our stay. We snorkeled at Yal Ku Lagoon one morning because the winds were too strong on the ocean. We also went on a fishing excursion through The Akumal Dive Shop. My husband reeled in 5 fish and the ride was wonderful! We are looking forward to visiting Akumal again next year!

Overall the condo was very clean. All appliances were very clean.
Beds in both rooms very comfortable. Pool was kept clean. Disappointed that outdoor pool/beach area seating was not in good shape and lounge chairs were just in a pile not put out for use. Two chairs
where out at end of trip . All out door cushions are kinda dirty and funky after many times left out in sand & rain. Attached restaurant is EXTREMELY over priced and VERY limited menu most nights only one or two people used it. Could do much better with reasonable prices and more authentic menu. It cost more there for two appetizers and 3 margaritas then a whole meal with a lot more appetizers ,drinks and food for 5 people down the street! They made no effort to even make a small path to water through the sargassum:( Housekeeping staff did a great job. Also sorry me of the palm leafs could be removed so you could actually have a great view of ocean instead of peekaboo. If you people using the pool this condo is in a great spot directly over pool.

We really enjoyed our stay in Unit 4. It's a good size and was very clean and tidy on arrival. The location's good, with a cafe across the road and the on-site restaurant, small local shop nearby and more if walk/drive/take the collective into Akumal village. With the beach and bay outside (you need water shoes if you're going to sea swim), you're petty set for a good, quiet vacation. If you need to work/play, the Internet speed's good which we find essential as we work for ourselves. All in all, a good stay.

Absolutely loved our stay at Hacienda de la Tortuga Unit 4.
We had everything we needed and the hosts were at hand to help within minutes of any queries or questions we had.
The location is amazing, first floor, high ceilings, light and spacious open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area looking on to the balcony over looking the pool, facing the beach.
Light beaming across the whole apartment as windows & patio run the full width of the building.
Both bedrooms were really well presented, the bed in the master was amazing - I had the best nights sleep and made a point of telling everyone how I dreamt every night I slept there whilst on my holiday.
The kitchen was equipped with everything you could need including a welcome tray upon arrival.
Housekeeping service was spot on and very thorough.
We couldn’t have wished for a more chilled/ relaxing time whilst in Akumal.

We love Akumal for it’s quaint, quiet, beautiful location and culture. Hacienda #4 is light and airy and the perfect size for a couple, some friends or small family. We snorkeled and watched beautiful fish right outside our door, rented bicycles and went into the village to shop, and enjoyed food at both La Lunita and Buena Vida. The staff at the property are wonderful and Roberto our Concierge made sure everything went smoothly. We would definitely book #4 again!

Had a great time with my family. 1st week beach almost without seaweed and 2nd week some seaweed but under control. Just take a short walk north direction to enter the sea without seaweed. Excellent snorkeling once you reach the coral in front of the condo. Calm and relax environnement. Explored kantun chi and aktun chen and was great. Yal ku was ok but better for snorkeling for free in front of the condo up to the reef. Condo verry well equiped. We enjoyed every moment. The next 2 to 3 next buildings more south on HMB there was to much seaweed.. avoid rental more south of Half moon bay on summer month, smell terrible and not possible to enter the ocean. As expected and better we also see 150 baby turtle go out of their nest. We were lucky because it does nt hapen ofter according the locals.

This is a wonderful place to stay. The restaurant downstairs is world class. We ate there almost every day not because it was convenient, but because it was the best. The pool was wonderful, the location was quiet, and they did a commendable job battling the seaweed. The seaweed was a shame, and the floor under the ocean was a bit rocky, but that is true in the entire general area. We did have to move to a different unit halfway through our stay because they had to do some repairs, but they were very helpful, apologetic, and accommodating. All in all, it was a very restful and wonderful place to stay.

Loved this place. Setting on the beach is perfect and we were surrounded by turtle nests and even saw some hatch. A few restaurants in walking distance (very good restaurant underneath the apartment) but a golf buggy or car helps to get around. Sea and sand are beautiful but beware of sargasso problem some months. We walked up to the main beach which is very nice and where the seaweed was cleared. Denote/lagoon within 5 min walk was beautiful and not crowded. Apartment didn’t look very special from the outside but very nice inside and had everything needed for a great holiday. We would say this part of Akumel is for independent travellers who want to be away from all-inclusive resorts. We loved it for a week and then headed to Tulum for a contrast.

Akumal direct was great to work with, very good customer service, very responsive. Staff and Maids were wonderful. Stayed 14 nights in Hacienda de La Tortuga Unit 4. Unit was great, Ocean view is really great a little limited due to pool located in front of Condo. Unit could use more small cooking pots and serving dishes. Otherwise it is well equipped.
Great restaurant Lunita on site. Close enough to walk to main Akumal beach and or rent a bike. YalKu Lagoon is worth a visit, snorkeling out front of Condo is excellent, we were able to see rays a small turtle and wonderful amounts of fish. Was extremally windy for 5 constant days, this brought in Sargassum weed, which was not removed by th time we left. which was disappointing. Really like Akumal for its quiet laid back vibe. would recommend.

Great location and condo! The only issue we had was the hot water quit working, but property office addressed it quickly. It was great having room service every day, everyone was very nice and helpful. David, the concierge was great!! This is our 5th time staying at Hacienda de la Tortuga and each time is amazing! The property is well-maintained with upgraded beds, linens and wiwfi. The pool is a important asset to have with small children, and the direct beach access is a lifesafer! The staff at La Lunita are always super-helpful! Our condo was just perfect. Exactly what we needed for our family of 5. It was modern, up-to-date, extremely clean, and had all the amenities we needed for our 5-day stay. The A/C was as cold as you could want and all of the appliances were new and modern. The location could not have been better. We were literally 10 seconds from an awesome pool and 15 seconds from the beach (which was also very clean with plenty of chairs and sun shades). We were just a 2 - 3 minute golf cart ride from many restaurants (with amazing food!), retail shops, and dive shops (we had 2 great dives). I would highly recommend Akumal and this condo. We will be back.

Wow. I don't know where to start. Hacienda de la Tortuga is such a hidden gem. Beautiful beach-front access with the perfect pool for families. The onsite restaurant is an added perk!

The unit #4 is clean, modern and updated. We also stated in #7 which is not quite as updated, but also just as nice. The bedrooms are spacious. The AC's work great! Full-kitchen for cooking at home. And, a great balcony view of the bay!

Loved the size of property and location. Everything could want with exception of AC in main living. Pretty hot & humid for several days.
Couple of suggestions; room darkening window treatments in bedrooms.
Street lights & property lights very disruptive to sleep.
Also master bedroom AC had a tough time keeping room cool due to shutters letting in warm air from main living area which is not air conditioned. Top locks do not keep shutters closed and warm air gets through slots.
Otherwise very enjoyable vacation, we are in Akumal every other year, so see you in 2023.

We spent 5 nights in this unit, and we had the best time! LaLunita, on the ground floor, was delicious, and everybody with which we interacted, in the admin office, and the grounds, were extremely helpful and friendly. The unit has great views, nicely appointed, and very clean - everything was just as pictured. The property provided a small bag of coffee, sugar, cream, a small container of milk, a couple of Cokes, and a couple of bottles of water. As females, we felt very safe, traveling between town, and on property, both at night, and during the day. We reserved a golf cart - a must, since LaLunita is really the only place, close by, to eat (make sure to make a dinner reservation - they are small, and fill up, quick. We also loved LaBuena Vida, La Taverna, Lol-ha, and Turtle Bay Cafe (breakfast/lunch/dinner). We booked the Robinson Crusoe catamaran trip and snorkeling in Dos Ojos cenote, both through the Akumal Dive Shop - both were great, and will use them, again. I cannot say enough good things about this property, the management staff, and the overall area.

We had a wonderful stay at Hacienda de la Tortuga #4. It was clean, had all necessary amenities, hot water in the bathroom adjacent to smaller bedroom, and the beds were very comfortable. The view of the ocean and pool is beautiful and convenient to watch older children swim from the balcony. The manager was helpful in receiving information regarding excursions and the food and drinks at restaurant La Lunita ware delicious (highly recommend the Tamarindo margarita and tuna steak tostadas - although it's a bit expensive for dining in Mexico in our opinion). Akumal is quiet and peaceful and the snorkeling right outside the condo is great. Thankfully, the sargassum seaweed in front of the condo is under control. It is rocky entering the water, but enter on your stomach, go out far to the coral reefs, and you will see a ton of different fish. We even saw a stingray. We recommend water shoes. Know we were unable to walk the beach due to a ton of sargassum mounted on the beach down from us. Rent a car at Cancun airport (Easy Way) and stop at Chedraui in Cancun or Playa del Carmen for groceries (since there are only a few very small stores in Akumal where produce is super limited) to nearby cenotes, Aktun Chen (cave, cenote, ziplining), Mayan ruins, and a ton of other amazing sites. Or just rent bikes (about $7/day) and hang out in Akumal. Can swim with the sea turtles, eat at Turtle Cove, have a drink at La Buena Vida, or venture into the town across the bridge. Highly recommend "La Casa del Pueblo" - fantastic food and great service - right outside the Akumal monkey sanctuary. Can grab the Colectivo on the carretera federal and go to Tulum, Playa, etc. Amazing time!

I can't say enough about our stay at Hacienda de la Tortuga unit number four it was perfect for two couples was spotless clean... You got daily maid service they were the best! Great beach with awesome snorkeling right off the beach... The coral reefs were very shallow and the fish were right next to you... Roberto www.hacienda thanks was the best taking care of our needs almost as soon as we asked for them... always willing to give us a recommendation...Victor the security guard Kept us feeling safe during our stay.great location quiet beach with waking access to town.. All the restaurants were awesome.. #10 of #10 is our rating... Just be sure to bring your water shoes the beach access is very rocky

First of all, thank you so much for leaving us 2 jogs of water! We loved the view, the location, the rental. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. Thanks for the creamer, beer, etc. The AC worked incredible. Victor, the car attendant was amazing! So sweet and helpful. The Lalunita restaurant and the service were truly superb!
The beachbwas lovely, but it's important to mention that it is not for swimming due to rocks and corals. We would definitely come back and stay here again.
