Comfort, Privacy & Incredible Views

Property Reviewed:
La Joya Unit 2
Dates Stayed:
December, 2025
Source:
Airbnb
Rating:
5

The placement of this rental directly looking out at the ocean was exceptional. There were large windows that looked out to a public area but it still felt private with curtain options, and we were outside most times.
The space was clean and functional. The bed and couch were comfortable. The shower and bathroom were spacious, as was the closet. I was happy to find and make use of a hammock!
Joel was on-site daily, as were other cleaners that supported with any requests. Javier was on-site as security in the evening. Akumal Direct was good at responding.
The beach, corral reef snorkelling, and pool made us grateful to avoid the nearby beaches that required paid entry and were so busy with tourists.
A few good restaurants and corner groceries were quite close and we ended up enjoying the 25min walk to town and the other wonderful restaurants and store options.
Everywhere felt safe and welcoming. Many tourists wandered or drove golf carts, while locals used motorcycles and cars.

My husband & I enjoyed our stay at La Joya #2. It was nicely laid out & had been recently renovated. My husband worked for the week we stayed there & the desk setup was perfect for him to work.
We had everything we needed & it was perfect for a week's stay.
It would have been nice to have the bedroom curtain either blackout or a rollshade of some sort. It was quite bright in the bedroom with the bedroom window facing street side.
We did encounter lukewarm showers for most of the week, didn't get a "hot" shower until the morning of our departure. Not sure if other units showering at the same time in the afternoon had anything to do with it. We survived, it was fine.
Having access to the pool was great and being so close to the beach was nice. There was always ample beach loungers available. It was a nice, quiet, serene stay.

This condo is right by the beach in an area with other condos nearby, several dining options - La Lunita provides excellent dining experience , and the Jungle is a 2 minute walk for breakfast, and the mini market is a 3 minute walk. Convenience all around, but when you are on the property you feel as if you are on retreat - with no one to bother you. The property manager is friendly and helpful if you would need and the staff are focused on providing exceptional service. If you want more activity it is a 30 minute walk into Akumal with more excellent dining options.
