Playa Caribe #4 is a second floor luxury-but-affordable-unit with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms that provides the ultimate in privacy and has fabulous VIEWS OF BOTH the aquamarine CARIBBEAN AND verdant JUNGLE, view from every room.

Our condo is just steps from the ocean and you have the ability to watch turtles and rays cavort in the bay waters below. The condominium building has only 12 units and is among the BEST in Akumal because we are unique with enticing amenities like:

- CENTRAL AIR so that you really are cool during the hot days and warm nights (you can still choose to open your windows)

-Stunning infinity POOL on the beach.

-Security guard at night, onsite office with manager, safe in master bedroom, off street parking

Playa Caribe #4 is decorated in soft Caribbean-zen colors with textures of Mexico, three custom-made stained glass windows, a breathtaking museum quality Mexican mask collection, and many diverse pieces of Mexican cultural art (some of the paintings I did myself) which all gently bring Mayan ambience into your life. Both bedrooms have large private balconies that look directly onto the jungle, and a third larger balcony is off the living room looking onto the beach where you can dine or read while watching turtles and rays swim in the ocean waters below. There is FREE dependable wireless INTERNET service.

***Walk the beach at sunrise and sunset, watch for turtle egg laying and hatching, drink a margarita under a palapa, read the book that you’ve been meaning to start, forget your troubles under the stars, and peacefully dream about your next visit to enchanting Akumal and Playa Caribe #4.

The unit sleeps max 6:
- The master bedroom with a comfy king bed (and 600 thread count linens) has views both of the sparkling ocean and the lush jungle, with an ensuite full bath with tub/shower and two sinks.
- The second bedroom has two double beds with romantic mosquito canopies and a full bath also with tub/shower.

Each bedroom has its own balcony. There is a new 50" SMART TV in the living room.

The kitchen is fully equipped with cooktop, microwave, convection and browning oven, refrigerator, many small appliances, serving dishes, spices, cloth napkins, and candles—everything to make your stay enjoyable . . . . and memorable. Dining is at the breakfast bar or at the dining table, with magnificent views. There is daily maid service (you do not need to do dishes or make your bed if you don’t want to!), 24-hour security, and room safe. We are concerned about our environmental impact, and have been awarded the CEA Ecological seal of approval for environmental protection.

Playa Caribe is within walking distance of beachside gourmet restaurants and breakfast cafes, and abounds with activities like snorkeling or scuba diving on the offshore reefs, swimming in the unique cenotes, tours to Mayan ruins, or siestas.

The Maya name Akumal means “land of the turtle” because turtles actually do lay eggs and hatch here during the summer; this is an incredible life affirming experience to watch.

Other activities:

Cenotes, ATVing, eco-adventure parks, dolphin experiences, spa treatments, and more.
Playa del Carmen, which hosts the ferry to the island of Cozumel, is a 20-min drive north and has many activities should you desire to leave your tranquil life in Akumal for the day or evening.
The Maya ruins at Tulum are only a 20 minute drive south of Akumal.
There are several nearby GOLF courses.

Great apartment right on the beach. Good staff, the apartment is equipped with love. Very good for snorkeling. Bathing shoes are essential! The entrance to the swimming is stone.

We loved the area, beautiful and quiet. Walking distance to a convenience store, nice fun beach bar and restaurant, also a great massage place was nearby too. A short drive to a beautiful lagoon and just far enough away from Tulum and Cancun to be peaceful and relaxing. The property was well maintained with a beautiful atrium central to the building... great housekeeping and friendly, helpful staff all around. We loved the roman style tub/shower combo in the bathrooms, plentiful balconies and falling asleep to ocean wave sounds. We hope to return to Playa Caribe one day!

Truely a great location. Walking distance to restaurants, bars, and snorkeling either in the gulf or a nearby cenote-lagoon. The location in the building was perfect. Condo number 4 is on the second floor (Great view with not a lot of steps) had an amazing vista of the Gulf of Mexico from the living-kitchen area. Down a few stairs and you are on a pristine beach as well as access to their swimming pool. Plenty of lounge chairs and covers are also provided.
The kitchen was very well equipped.
The beds were very comfortable and maid service daily.
You will not be disappointed with your stay in Condo # 4 at Plays Caribe.

A piece of heaven in wonderful Akumal! This condo was everything we hoped it would be, and more. The photos and description are quite accurate. My husband and I spent a wonderful week here and have no regrets whatsoever. The condo was spotlessly clean, attended by maid service each day, and had everything we needed in the kitchen and condo to make ourselves very comfortable.

Now… About that mind blowing view of the ocean! We could not get enough of it! When we were not watching the waves on the balcony, we were down luxuriating on the beach. After beach time we could be found one of the several nearby wonderful restaurants, snorkelling, or riding our bikes through this quaint and lovely neighbourhood.

You will never regret spending time here.

I can't say enough.about this.property. it is nicer than the photos can portray. The bedrooms are very spacious with large closets and wonderful bath. The design elements along with the attention to decor and lighting made the experience extra special. The common areas are spacious and well appointed. Everything you could ever need is at hand. The view is amazing and a constant source of pleasure. It is located in a nice area with a very nice and convenient beach bar nearby.

We rented a.golf cart which I would recommend. It is not far from the main village but we did enough walking on the beach and a hot walk into town was not on my bucket list.

The staff is very responsive and the housekeeper, Patricia is very sweet and took wonderful care of us.

You will not be disappointed

Enjoy it as much as we did.

Arriving in Playa Caribe was easy. We felt safe as we left the freeway and entered the quaint town of Akumal. One two way road takes you though a hotel arch (yes, no typo), the town's square, the natural reserve building, the parking lot for all Akumal activities, and many restaurants on the side, to a security "casilla" and a friendly checkpoint, where you have to know your address. As instructed, we pulled into the Playa Caribe front parking lot, and a security guard checked us in, without delay.

The apartment was clean and fresh (AC was on and there was music playing for us)

The ocean front balcony was much more than I expected; the place where we had our first cup of coffee, or morning mate in my case.

Speaking of breakfast, the small kitchen had all we needed to prepare an omelette or warm up the left over pizzas. I imagine you could cook there, I just don't understand that concept. There are many good places to eat out around Half Moon Bay.

The two master suites are magnificent. The beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are spacious, and comfortable. Plenty of hot water, basic toiletries, clean towels.

Throughout the apartment the decor is "Mexican eclectic" with native design masks and deities, local Christian touches (lots of miracle charms, you should google that), and ocean symbolism.

If only once, you should go to Akumal Bay and swim with the turtles. Either way you have to pay a "certified snorkel guide" who will take you to the area where the turtles are. They provide some equipment and the mandatory flotation device. You do not need to go to the Parque Natural and pay a lot, by going to the Lol-Ha restaurant thru the Hotel Akumal Caribe (driveway between OXXO market and Chomak market) and paying 450M$ for a palapa for the day (includes two beach chairs and access to clean bathrooms and showers. The restaurant food is great! We really liked the ceviche mixto.

Even though its not much advertised, and access is a bit rocky, snorkeling in the bay in front of the building is a wonderful surprise. Don't forget water shoes.

The apartment is so quiet, the sound of the waves come though and lulls you. We all came back well rested and with happy hearts.

We will most certainly be coming back to Playa Caribe.

As great as our anticipation of our experience and the beautiful pictorial provided of Playa Caribe #4, justice was served. This place was majestic and magnificent by all accounts. Our condo was warm and inviting. We couldn't have been more comfortable in this "no place like home" environment. To wake up to the spectacular view of the beautiful sunrise out on the horizon and each crystal clear night with the stars touching the sea, it couldn't have been more beautiful. The on-site management staff was very warm and always eager to help. The cleaning staff was reliable and kept our condo and grounds spotless. We found the property location to be as good as it gets sitting in the middle of Half Moon Bay. Very quiet and peaceful. At the same time, only minutes away from all the activity one might desire without ever leaving Akumal. Our family of four really felt as though we were treated as VIPs. We truly can't wait to return to Akumal and will do everything possible to plan around the availability to once again stay at Playa Caribe #4

We were looking for a relaxing tropical vacation, but wanted one on our own terms and not at a theme-park-like resort. Playa Caribe, in the middle of Half Moon Bay in Akumal delivered just that. The condo is beautiful and right on the sand.

We had a great time exploring and snorkeling on our own and sampling the restaurants in Akumal Village and the Pueblo. We’d recommend a private tour of the Santa Cruz Cenote, the only privately-owned Cenote in the region. JP took my family and I through this amazing experience in a private setting—not a cattle call like the big resorts put people through.

The pre-stay communication and the great service by Manager Agustin was fantastic. We will definitely be returning some day.

Instead throwing out the life story you often find on Pinterest, I decided to bullet point key highlights and qualities about the property.

* Walking through the door provides visitors the opportunity to experience that the property is quite beyond the photos viewed online.

* The easiest check-in/checkout ever (in my experience)!

* WiFi and air conditioning are on point (excellent)!

* Was able to access my apps on the television.

* Great communication between management. (If I needed anything all I had to do was request, and someone returned my query quickly and efficiently.)

* Bedding and furniture were very comfortable.

* Groceries delivery service was able to bring groceries directly to condo.

* Beach staff worked tirelessly to maintain beach and make sure all surroundings were clean without being too noticeable.

**** Housekeeping service was discreet, professional and quick. (In and out like ninjas. You’d be hard pressed to see them in action, and were just greeted with a sparkling clean condo when returning for another drink etc.)

* Several options of activities/sightseeing in area.

* I can’t wait to return!!!

I highly recommend! I went with my mom, brother, sister-in-law, and their five month old son, and it perfectly accommodated us in every way. The pool is a perfect temperature, the beach gorgeous and the view is to die for. Everything is so close, including delicious restaurants and scuba diving and snorkeling. It was so relaxing, safe, and an awesome place to spend a week building memories. The kitchen has everything you need from a blender to cooking supplies to tupperware. There is a security guard on duty all of the time, (even though the town feels very safe) and two little "corner stores" right next to the building. The workers are kind, the maid did an incredible job each day. The host also sent us a week long itinerary with tons of wonderful things to do if we did not want to relax in the serenity. I can not recommend this place enough for a family, a friend trip, or even a solo getaway!

We had a great week! Highlights included snorkeling in the bay out front and several other places nearby, walking to the great nearby restaurants, swimming in the pool, and a ceynote tour. The condo was very clean, totally bug free, and very spacious for our family of 4! The information from the owner, sent to us before our trip, was very helpful for our packing and planning. A great place -- we would definitely stay there again! (Other reviewers have noted that there a seaweed issue throughout Half Moon Bay, but it was not a big deal for us -- several workers persistently worked at clearing it out. For us, it meant that we walked 1-2 minutes north where there were fewer rocks and less seaweed to enter the water for snorkeling. During our visit, there was no terrible smell like some others have reported.)

Condo is beautiful and in a great location for exploring the area. Our only complaint is that we didn’t stay longer.

The condo has everything you need for a comfortable stay and the staff at the Playa Caribe are very accommodating and friendly. A huge benefit for us, being first time visitors to this area, was the wealth of knowledge that Shari shared with us about the area. It made it very efficient for us to learn the ropes and make the most of our stay in Akumal.

We are hesitant to write this review because we are scared the secret of Playa Caribe #4 will get out. We have been to Akumal several times in the past 10 years and watched it change from a sleepy beach town to Akumal Bay becoming a turtle tourist trap.

We were so relieved to find that Half Moon Bay has retained the charm we came to love so dearly about Akumal. The north end of Akumal is just as quiet and lovely as we remember.

Shari's condo is so comfortable and beautifully appointed- from the great kitchen equipment to water you can drink out of the tap!! Her recommendations for a magical stay are spot on- Cenote Santa Cruz was our favorite cenote experience ever and the snorkeling in front of the condo is spectacular. Thank you. We'll be back!

This is a lovely condo with everything you need for a great vacation. Top notch staff! Great communication with the owners. We enjoyed the beach at Akumal more as there was less moss and calmer waters. A day trip to the ruins at Tulum followed by the afternoon at Playa Paraiso was fantastic. Monday night karaoke at La Palapa in Chemuyil was fun if you’re more adventurous. The restaurants around the condo are all good but not as cheap as other areas of Mexico. The colectivo is a cheap way to get to Tulum from Akumal (runs til 11:00 pm) Thanks, Shari for the use of your condo.

This is the second time we've stayed in Playa Caribe #4 and like the first we hate to leave too good of a review in fear it will be booked the next time we come. Shari's condo is beautiful and decorated with local decor. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and inviting. The AC works well, but we prefer to turn it off and enjoy the ocean breezes. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you'd need and the balcony is the perfect place to have your coffee and watch the sunrise. The view of Half Moon Bay is great and the snorkeling fun for the whole family- bring your water shoes! You have to snorkel after just a few feet to protect the delicate corals that are shallow enough that our 6 year old can snorkel some parts of the reef without a life jacket. The walk to town is easy and you're right between two of our favorite beach restaurants La Buena Vida and La Lunita.

We loved our stay at Playa Caribe, Condo #4. It is a perfect location right on the beach and within walking distance to shopping and a Yal-Ku Lagoon. Great infinity pool area also with a stunning view of the Caribbean from either the pool or from the balcony. The condo was very clean, has great Wifi and perfect water pressure and temperature. The kitchen is well stocked with anything you may need to cook meals in the condo. The complimentary bowl of fruit, popcorn and other snacks was a very nice touch also. Very close to many beautiful cenotes in the area also. We would highly recommend Playa Caribe, Condo #4, for your visit to Akumal.

The view from our condo was spectacular. So glad we were on the second floor where we enjoyed the view from our balcony every morning and evening. The condo was beautifully decorated and well equipped with everything we needed. Very well maintained. We enjoyed the beautiful pool and gorgeous beach. There were several great restaurants nearby, along with lots of activities to choose from - snorkeling and paddle boarding to name a few. We loved this place and will be back for sure!

I have stayed in this unit many times & it is our favorite. The kitchen is well supplied for light cooking. The beds are comfy, and the unit decorated with a Mexican Zen flair. The property is well kept and has security at night. The area has some nice dining options that you can walk too. I could sit on the porch for hours just taking in the gentle waves while looking for marine life. We will defiantly be booking #4 again in the near future.

Playa Caribe was the perfect location for our first visit to Akumal.
It is centrally located in Half Moon Bay, within walking distance to great restaurants, a small market, Ya-Kul Lagoon and more.
The condo itself was perfect, with a well stocked kitchen (we even had coffee!) and everything we needed for our family of four, including beach towels, coolers, and umbrellas. The beds were super comfortable, and we all loved the beautifully tiled showers with the best water pressure we have ever experienced.
The staff is friendly and helpful, and our neighbors downstairs were extremely helpful with making recommendations for restaurants and activities. It’s also nice to have such ample parking on the property.
Make sure to check out the rooftop patio, with the best view of Half Moon Bay.
Yes, there is seaweed, but you can walk down the beach 5 houses away and snorkel in clear waters, or access Akumal Bat thru Lol-Ha Restaurant.
We will be back to Playa Caribe #4!

So wonderful, and the pool was awesome as well as the small store across the street that had everything we needed, and the amazing food within a few blocks walking distance. Love this place! Thank you for amazing stay, above and beyond staff.

Our time here was spent relaxing in a beautiful room with views we could stare at for hours. We had wonderful people that cleaned our room as often as we needed. The property manager was always helpful. The pool and beach out front was clean and we could snorkel right from the beach. We enjoyed all the surrounding restaurants. Never had a bad meal. All food was delicious!

This was my 2nd stay at Playa Caribe. I love staying there cuz the staff is amazing and I feel really safe with the nighttime security. The condo is a 5 minute walk to two great restaurants and a 20 minute walk to several more in town. My favorite is Taverna for the nummy Italian food and ambiance and coming in 2nd is Turtle Bay so I can watch NFL football! Playa Caribe #4 is the most appointed condo I have ever stayed in. Tupperware containers, bag clips, wine vac, etc. AC and WiFi worked great. Our microwave burned up and the management had a new one for us within minutes. My only disappointment is that the pictures don’t match the condo. Not a major thing. Different cushions and bedspreads, art work etc. But I was really disappointed the patio did not have a regular table with chairs. They have a nice patio set instead. I always pick units with tables so I can sit and eat outside so a bit of a bummer. Also the toaster oven needs to replaced the knobs kept coming off! It was very clean and our maid Patricia was awesome. We left dishes for her everyday!! Loved that were tables around the pool. Spent most of my time hanging out there. Been coming to Akumal for 20 years and Playa Caribe has become my favorite place to stay.

We loved everything about our stay... listening to ocean waves at night, a beautiful, well-stocked condo and quiet location. Walking distance to some stores and restaurants, even massage place. We hope to be back one day!

The air conditioning unit was extremely noisy. So noisy you could not hear the ocean waves.
No directions given how to use the TV. It only had local channels and none were acceptable. No news channels available.

The condo is one of the most beautiful we've ever stayed in. The design and the little details in the decor are amazing. The condo is also stocked with everything you need, from cookware, glasses, cups, TP, paper towels, spices etc. It is within walking distance to Yal Ku lagoon, which is why we chose it in the first place. Unfortunately, the sargassum in Akumal at the time of our stay (mid May) was awful, which caused us not to be able to get into the sea. The smell was really, really strong too, to the point that it was basically impossible to be outside. The managers of the condo kindly informed of the situation weeks before we arrived though, so we were aware.

We really enjoyed the beautiful Villa #4. Amazing views, good communication from David the concierge. Cleaning staff was very good. The only complaint I have is that someone was in our room when we arrived at midnight. The security guard let them into our room when there was a clearly written note on the front door of the office stating my name, condo number, and that it was unlocked for us to go into since it was after hours. We got it resolved, but I would suggest a lock box system for late arriving guests to avoid confusion, and better communication between front office staff and security. Also for security purposes I would have felt safer if there wasn’t a note for the public to read with my name and room number on display. Other than this mishap we really enjoyed our stay. Be sure to close screen door on patio because a bird flew into our room and pooped everywhere! Our bad. Also renting a golf cart was a great way to get around.

We had an ABSOLUTELY wonderful holiday on Half Moon Bay staying in #4 Playa Caribe. The condo was perfect for our family of 4 including two teenagers. The condo was very attractively decorated, had wonderful views, and was a real delight at the end of a long day on the beach or touring around. The sound of the waves was so soothing, even with the doors closed. The daily maid service (included in price) was very much appreciated. We also loved that each bedroom had it's own bath.

We will definitely stay there again
