La Iguana #8 is a lovely 2 bedroom suite that offers guests a true Caribbean getaway. The complex has two swimming pools, one ocean view plunge pool, and one tranquil garden pool. Relax under a beachfront palapa while reading in one of the many lounge chairs. If you are up for a bit of an adventure, you can easily walk 5 minutes to snorkel at Yalku Lagoon, a natural aquarium where a fresh water river meets an ocean inlet.

Retreat to this spacious 2 bedroom condo that is located on the 3rd floor. You will enjoy your own private garden side terrace, which is the ideal place to enjoy your morning coffee. Guests will marvel at the full wall of windows that allow for unfiltered views of the sea.

Full of charm, La Iguana #8 has a king bed in each of the two bedrooms, both with their own private bathroom. There is A/C in the bedrooms and living area. El lugar es increíble, la vista espectacular y la playa es un arrecife, desde el Primer paso, es una playa de snorquel, básicamente no existe un lugar así en toda la Riviera Maya. Me encantó, un lugar muy tranquilo para pasar unas vacaciones familiares y sin ruido. Lo recomiendo 100%, sin duda regresaré.

The house is exactly the same as the picture , spacious with great view . Half moon bay is much more quiet than Akumal bay. There is no beach around the condo, I have to wade in the water to reach the half moon bay beach. But it has the advantage of sea grass free and snorkeling off shore. I wish I could have stayed longer

Amazing stay in Akumal! The condo is located in a great spot near the lagoon. We rented a golf cart to get to and from town. I would definitely recommend doing that or renting bikes. The condo was cleaned, well cared for and has the most amazing view!

This stay is comparable to most of what a visitor can find in Akumal. We've stayed in the vicinity two other times and have had similar condo experiences. Akumal in general is a bit dated, but the trade off for a slightly run down unit is that you don't have to deal with the construction and congestion of Tulum. The good: Everything met expectations, the rooms were cleaned daily, and the kitchen was adequately stocked for cooking. More importantly, the view is spectacular and the beach is free of sargasso. To see why that is so important, check out a satellite map of sargasso currently drifting towards Quintana Roo in the Caribbean Sea. The smell of decomposing seaweed can ruin a vacation and this condo was absolutely free of that putrid smell. The less good: The place is just a bit past its prime. Not 70s-bad but it definitely lacks a modern aesthetic. Nothing that a person can sit or lie down on is very comfortable. It's adequate but finding a comfortable place to read a book can be a bit of challenge. Air conditioning is only in the bedrooms. There were a few evenings where that was less than ideal, but we also visited in the hot season. Honestly, if it wasn't so hot on a few of the evenings, the chance to open everything up and get a breeze along with the sound of the sea is just marvelous. There wasn't a place to hang wet things and that seems like a thing an accomodation at a beach should have. If you like dark places to sleep, this might not be it. The top windows don't have shades and the unit across the street has an intrusive security light. I guess they are somehow immune to the local light pollution rules on the bay or someone hasn't complained loud enough yet. Traveler tips: Plan to cook. The food around Halfmoon or Turtle Bay is Americanized and only good in that context. Also, if the sargasso is hanging about outside the restaurant, you won't have much of an appetite. You won't find a better view at any restaurant than the one from the kitchen in this unit. You can also get better (local) food in Akumal town if you have a car or bike. When we first visited Akumal, swimming with the turtles was free and Yal-Ku basically unoccupied. That's not true anymore. There are tours, regulations and tourists everywhere. Admittedly this takes some of the magic away. If you ask me though, the snorkeling on the reef just outside this condo is the best on the bay. You can follow the reef where the waves break to about midway in the bay and see as much as anywhere else. I highly suggest bringing your own snorkel gear and heading out at high tide. Visit a proper Scuba shop in your home country and get a mask that fits. The snorkel and fins are less important. You'll still want them, but they don't need to be as high quality if you want to leave them behind for souvenir space. The bottom line is that I recommend staying here if you are visiting Akumal.

The floor to ceiling windows frame the perfect view of Half Moon Bay! This spacious condo has a wonderful deck where you can catch the ocean breeze. The cleaning staff kept the condo spotless both inside and out.

Beautiful condo, incredible views, and relaxing atmosphere! Tucked away at the end of the bay, the grounds keepers kept the place beautiful each day and the pools were amazing! The walk out to the ocean was breathtaking.

This is our 6th trip to the area our first to La Iguana. My husband and I, along with my daughter, her husband and their two babies, loved our stay. The staff is friendly and professional, the views breathtaking. The location was perfect for us, quiet with nothing but the waves to lull us to sleep in very comfortable beds. The breezy location at the tip of the bay made using the air conditioners unnecessary. We would love return and enjoy this beautiful condo again. I recommend renting a golf cart if you have small ones and all the gear they need.

Our stay at La Iguana was awesome! The snorkeling out front was great, the room was decorated to make you feel right at home - right down to books & games. Becky was able to access wireless internet from the open window facing out on the incredible view. Jenny was able to stretch out on the comfy couch & read & write with the same spectacular view. We sat in those same windows & watched the fishing boats & currents & tidal changes while sipping our morning coffee. The beach was never crowded, very low key & all of the neighbors were friendly. Hector took us out one night to check on nesting, hatching turtles. It was a perfect location for us, close to the ruins & away from the crowds. We had a wonderful time & highly recommend it.

There was nothing about this vacation that wasn’t lovely. The rental unit that we stayed in was fantastic. The views from the living room slayed me every time. The back deck was lovely to sit on in the evenings as the breeze came off the Caribbean. And Akumal itself was perfect.

We stayed 11 days and could have stayed longer! Everything was very comfortable and well-maintained. Lots of space to put things and very nice staff.

It was quite hot in the main area of doing any physical activity and even open windows and fans often didn’t compensate for that. A couple of floor fans could have helped. A/C in the rooms was ice cold and the evening winds were refreshing.

The huge patio was one of my favorite spaces. Wall heights of the patio and bay view window are a bit lower than standard US so we were in on constant alert for our kids not to go too close. (They loved their stay here too with the two pools and ocean swimming out front!)

I would definitely stay here again, especially in sargasso season as it is virtually free of the seaweed!
