Description

Enjoy privacy and exceptional views from this fourth (top) floor penthouse unit, centrally located along Half Moon Bay. The beachside terrace is a perfect place to watch the sea turtles, schools of tropical fish, osprey, pelicans, and other marine wildlife. The breezes come off the bay, and all is quiet and private.

The unit offers a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave, coffee maker, and all appliances needed to prepare meals or enjoy snacks and cold drinks on the beach. Off of the kitchen is the dining area with seating for five. From the living and dining areas, you can enjoy the view of Half Moon Bay through a wall of windows and sliding doors leading to the beachside terrace. The terrace is furnished with a hammock and table and chairs for you to enjoy the breezes and sounds of the surf.

To the rear of the unit are two bedrooms. The master bedroom is spacious and private, with a large master bath and king bed. The guest bedroom is furnished with one queen and one twin bed with a private bath. AC in bedrooms and living area.

Luna Azul is one of our favorite condominium properties. It has a great central location within walking distance of Akumal's Yal-Ku Lagoon, restaurants, and other services. The management here is excellent and always takes great care of our guests.

KINDLY NOTE: During the summer, south winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Riviera Maya. Please know that our onsite teams work very hard to ensure the best beach conditions for your stay. As a consideration, you may also see special seasonal discounts applied during the summer months.

We have a great list of activities and adventures utterly unaffected by the arrival of Sargasso that we would love to share with you. Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved both units 7 & 8. They are both on the 4th floor so be ready to walk but that was fine with us. The views were worth it. Akumal Direct was excellent to work with, especially David Placencia. He did everything from finding us tennis courts to getting us covid tests.

Also Sunshine management was very nice, especially Alex.

Can't beat the location, right on the beach and located in a quiet, safe area. The condo has lots of windows and you can hear the ocean in every room. Nice beach that is raked daily and beautiful sunrises over the water. We had a lovely stay and will absolutely come back. Bring some bug spray / candles and some water shoes - the beach is rocky but great snorkeling.

This place feels like home away from home. The view makes it worth the entire stay. I would have loved to have a hammock on the terrace for a wonderful nap with a view, but the place has super comfy beds and a great living area. Also... TIP for future guests, bring some booties (wet shoes). The beach, all though crystal clear and gorgeous shades of blue, does have some rocks on the way in and out, so having some booties on will definitely make it easier to go in and out the water. We love cooking, so we did appreciate having several pans and pots to prepare our food. Also loved having a coffee pot and a toaster for breakfast! Our only request would be a knife sharpener (or having someone sharpen all the knives before new guests!). Overall a beautiful place and would come back anytime!

Check in and check out were super easy. The condo management office is right across the street in case of any issues. The beach is beautiful but relatively small and rocky so not a great place for swimming. Still it is lovely to sit on the quiet beach and enjoy the sun and a good book. Overall I recommend this place highly.

Decent snorkeling in front of the unit (we saw a stingray when we were out), water shoes recommended for easy entrance into the water as it is rocky. Corner store, just a 2 minute walk, has liquor, beer, ice, eggs etc at good prices. We will remember this place for years to come.

This space is beautiful, gorgeous view of the ocean, and a great little patio to enjoy it. The kitchen was fully stocked, they provided clean water, and the beds were comfortable. We loved the vibe of the apartment with all the local art touches. I highly recommend checking out La Buena Vida Restaurant and Tree House down the road. Great location, walking distance to Yal-Ku and biking distance to Akumal restaurants. Bikes available to rent and very affordable. We loved our time here.

una Azul is a great place to stay in Akumal. We had unit 7 and the view was just breathtaking. The apartment was clean, had everything any family could need for a great stay. Amazing breeze day and night and we didn’t even have to touch the AC. Seaweed was not an issue during our stay, and the little that crept up overnight the staff was right on it in the morning taking it away. The WiFi was good. Kitchen nicely equipped too. Parking was available at all times and you could rent bikes or a golf cart if you wish. Two thumbs way up and would highly recommend/stay again!

I loved the layout of the condo, great views from all rooms... a/c not in the living room and there was no TV, no cable.. I like to have that in the evening before bed.. The condo could use some updating... new sheets/towels etc. The kitchen was nice.. everything you need there... plenty of room.... it would have been a good location on the beach but the seaweed overtook everything (not the condos fault).. the personal at this location was TOP NOTCH.. they helped us with everything so nice!! we rented bikes that was great!

We just came back from Akumal, and we loved our vacation!
Stayed at Luna Azul 7 (top floor) for 4 days (3 adults and a 9 year old). The view from our top floor was spectacular and we loved the breeeze and the sound of the waves.
The place was very clean, with daily maid service. Kitchen was well equipped.
Gualberto and Marcial from guest service were very friendly and offered needed help and advice.
The beach is good for snorkeling, but it does have corals pretty close to the shore, so if you are looking for kid-friendly beach, you'd have to walk some 15-20 minutes to the public beach. The walk is totally worth it as you can swim with the turtles there,
We would (and most likely will) come back to this place again and again.

We stayed in Luna Azul for 5 weeks. The location is right in the middle of Half Moon Bay. Very quiet location. We were in Unit #7 which had a fantastic view with the sun beaming into the master bedroom in the morning. The until was very clean, reasonably equipped and excellent daily maid service. There are 65 steps up to the unit so not very everybody. The unit is right on a snorkeling beach which we did often with lots of sea species. Turtle Bay is within walking distance to see big and small turtles but so many, many tourists, poor turtles. Local restaurants were all very good. We had quite a few windy and cloudy days which was okay for a break. Limited groceries were available in Akumal and expensive, best to go to Tulum for bulk grocery needs.

We stayed in #7 on the 4th floor. Amazing view and a great breeze. We visited in August and only turned on the AC for a couple of hours just before bed. The AC was quite loud, but it cooled the whole place down and dried it out for a good nights sleep. Beds were comfy, maid came every day and did the few dishes we had and made us fresh towel animals!

Luna azul is a special place located on a special beach, where the turtles swim right up to your front door. One day we saw 11 of them while snorkelling. The local restaurants (Buena Vida and Lunita) are not supplemented by a new discovery in the local town called La Ultima Maya.

Wonderful vacation overall. Our condo #7 had issues with water, particularly hot water, but this was addressed in a very timely fashion. Akumal Direct representatives were MORE than accommodating. We would not hesitate to use their services again. Half Moon Bay is absolutely beautiful but a bit rocky.

We love Half Moon Beach in Akumal. Can say enough good things about Adrian, the property manager at Luna Azul. Luna Azul was adequate but a little run down compared to other places we have stayed on Half Moon beach. Also wish you would prohibit smoking even on the balconies abs verandas. It wasn’t pleasant to sit on the beach and have all of the residents of the unite on the first floor smoking non-stop right behind me every day!

Our stay at Luna Azul was one of my favorite vacations. It was a very relaxing week and a perfect place to spend quality time with family and friends. Very tranquil and beautiful and refreshing for the soul.

Luna Azul#7 is minimally eequiped, has plumbing problems in the kitchen & 2nd bathroom, several major leaks when it rains. Luna Azul is a good property, but this unit needs repair.

we were a bit disappointed that the access into the water was rocky and not safe-I fell while trying to go into the ocean and cut my hand.After rhat incident we always drove to main Akumal beach where there is less surf and sandy access to the one had mentioned this danger to us.We had hoped to just walk from the apartment into the water...
the view was wonderful.The place very well kept up.We stayed in Luna Azul# 4 by the way since it was available at arrival and we realized that the fourth floor meanta lot of stairs to problem with the switch...

We loved both units 7 & 8. They are both on the 4th floor so be ready to walk but that was fine with us. The views were worth it. Akumal Direct was excellent to work with, especially David Placencia. He did everything from finding us tennis courts to getting us covid tests.
Also Sunshine management was very nice, especially Alex.

The view was great. The furnishings and kitchen were nice. A/C was a bit noisey but tolerable. We would go back for the view and the calm bay. You can see turtles in the water from the balcony.

Great view! We were always very impressed by the maintenance staff, not only in the suite, but also the beachfront--it was the cleanest spot on Half Moon Bay. Very convenient location-middle of the beach on Half Moon Bay. Good snorkelling, beautiful beach, comfortable and clean accomodations. Manager could barely speak English and didn't know how to dial the number to Cancun Airport, which we needed to contact due to 1 piece of baggage not arriving. That was our only complaint.

We have stayed at Luna Azul before- and have always found it nice. The location is great and overall a great place to stay.

We were there only 2 nights...very clean and quite well equipped. I would have preferred beach level rather than the top floor, but otherwise it was very satisfactory.

The room was beautiful and surpassed anything that I/we were expecting. The four of us had plenty of room and were not tripping all over each other. It was like a home away from home. Can't wait for next January!

All 16 of us, absolutely loved Akumal and Luna Azul. Javier was there when we needed him. We had a toilet issue but it was resolved promptly--no worries!! The staff at Luna Azul was amazing & sooo sweet--even though they could not speak English & we could not speak Spanish Javier was a great translator. I thought this was a regular vacation; however, my boyfriend proposed to me while in Akumal. We are SERIOUSLY considering Akumal for our wedding and will no doubt be using Akumal direct. I cannot say enough about the helpfulness of the ALL of the staff including reservations. My e-mails were answered promptly. Kelly, Lisa, and anyone I forgot...I appreciate ya'll help and look forward to working with you again!!

Luna Azul #7 was perfect except for lack of hot water on several occasions. We could happily overlook that for the killer view, warm sun and out-the-door snorkeling. Getting one of the cushioned chaises required going out at 7:00 am to put down a towel....I guess the "normal" procedure in beach locations?
