Description

Luna Azul Casitas are always a great choice for those interested in long term rental, for divers or others that plan on spending their visit out and about. This studio efficiency unit has no view, but the beach and great snorkeling are just a few steps away. The unit is clean and comfortable with private bath and well equipped kitchen area that includes microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker, and breakfast bar.

This studio comes with a king size bed as well as a full size futon and can sleep up to 3 people.

Luna Azul is one of our favorite condominium properties. It has a great central location within walking distance to Akumal's Yal-Ku Lagoon, restaurants and other services. The management here is excellent and always takes great care of our guests.

Todo es excelente, los muebles nuevos y todo limpio, hay amenidades en el baño, todo de 10, el único punto a mejorar sería coordinar con la persona de seguridad la llegada de los huéspedes porque no sabia de nuestra llegada y fue un poco incómodo, de ahí en fuera, todo de 1000

Akumal Direct was wonderful to work with. They were very quick to respond to any and all questions I had and were extremely helpful. They provided great directions and information. The place we stayed in was a perfect little studio by the beach. It was walking distance to many things and we enjoyed our stay. The staff at check-in were fantastic and very helpful.

Cute little place which is perfect for a couple. I stayed alone and had plenty of space to cook and to lounge. Only steps from the beach made my afternoons super relaxing. Also, the three restaurants up and down the bay are fantastic.

This was the perfect location and the perfect sized condo! We loved it and we enjoyed our time immensely! Just steps away from the beach, which was quiet and not overrun! The condo had everything we needed and the maids did a wonderful job of picking up after us. We will be asking for this condo again! It was the best weekend getaway ever!

We rented one of the small studio units for a week and found it to be very suitable for our needs. It is clean, very well equipped and has daily maid service. The kitchenette is small but has every appliance except a baking oven. There is satellite TV, AC, bottled water and Wi-Fi. It had two fairly firm double beds. Occupancy is permitted for 4 people but it will be very claustrophobic. Parking is directly in front but there is no view or patio. A convenience grocery is directly across the street. Restaurants are within walking distance. There is a nice beach in front with palapas and lounges. The waters edge is rocky and care is needed entering the water for swimming. Management is responsive both to reservations and needs.

We stayed for a week in December 2013 (the week before Christmas) at the La Bodega Sur condo at the Luna Azul condos. The condo is on the lowest level (walk-out basement) of the condo building with a small private porch off the entry walk, which is perfect for drying towels, etc. The condo is a small studio with fully equipped kitchen, full size bath, and a queen bed. There is a small casement window above the bed that faces the beach. You can't see the water from the condo, but you can hear the waves and feel the breeze at night, which was perfect for us. It does not face the street, like the casitas, and it is perfectly quiet and private.

It was only a 20 step walk from the condo patio to the beach. We were some of the only guests in the building so we had the condo's beautiful beachfront and palapa umbrellas all to ourselves every day. We also were able to have breakfast and coffee every morning at the picnic table in front of the condo on the beach -- all to ourselves! We loved every minute of staying there, and we would come back and stay at this condo again in a minute. It was cleaned daily, the location was perfect for us (just a 5 minute walk down the beach to La Buena Vida for amazing $2 margaritas every evening). 

I would HIGHLY recommend beach shoes if you want to get in the water though. As other reviewers have stated, Half Moon Bay is rocky once you enter the waves so you would be wise to buy some cheap water shoes (we got ours for less than $20 on eBay). 

I would also recommend renting a car if you want to go beyond the beachfront, as it's a good 30 minute walk from the condo out to the highway to catch a colectivo bus.

If you're on a budget and want an amazing beach vacation in a terrific location, then this is your spot (Akumal is our favorite Riviera Maya town, and we have tried them all). You might not get the view from your room, but if you're someone that prefers actually being out on the beach, this is perfect for you. You will get every amenity you need in the condo, and you're only 20 steps away from the beach front. It's a SUPER place that we are planning to book again this winter!

Bodega Sur is a lovely studio with a king bed, full size fridge, nice kitchen area and a private patio where you can enjoy breakfast or a before dinner drink with friends. La Buena Vida restaurant (my favorite!) is a 2 minute walk away. There is wifi, though we had trouble getting it to work in the room. We ended up heading to the beach and sitting at the palapa for wifi, but we were spending time there anyway so it wasn't an issue. The staff is friendly, helpful, and they keep the place clean!

Fourth visit to the unit, first in 8 years. Remodeled since then, looks nice, a few problems with layout. Housekeeping did not pick up dirty towels at all, had to pile them up outside our door. Only changed sheets once. Lockbox in a lousy location. Scott stopped by twice, which was nice. Would stay at a bungalow at Playa Caribe next time, they are better looking and have better furnishings.

We only stayed here one night cause we were booked somewhere else already (we flew in a day early). We were pleasantly surprised at how spacious this studio was (we are a family of 5, 3 small kids). The decor was really nice and everything was super clean. We were happy to stay here. Had a cute little closed in patio with a locking door. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if travelling on a budget.

Bodega Sur exceeded our expectations. This unit has been completely renovated with high end finishes. Besides having beach access, this unit has a private enclosed patio that can be enjoyed any time of the day. The unit was super clean, had good quality kitchenware, king size bed, nice towels and linens, new ac unit, high end fan, rainfall shower head and full size fridge. Scott was a great host he stopped by shortly after we checked in to be sure everything was good, and was available if we had any questions. This is no doubt the best bodega in all of Akumal.

We had a great time at Luna Azul, the sunrise was great, the beach area was fabulous, and the bay there was a great spot for snorkeling. We saw turtles daily and a few other surprises too. I'd defiantly recommend.

Nice private room tucked away in the corner. Best part was no stairs to climb. Locals very friendly. Only wish for improvement would be to the main road running through town.

This place is absolutely lovely! The room is very pretty with lovely decor, and all the amenities you could need. The room is right next to the ocean and you can happily fall asleep to the sound of the sea.

This is a well maintained studio on the backside of a beachfront building. Walk up a few steps and your toes are in the sand. The space is laid out well and there is a nice private outdoor area to enjoy as well. The kitchen was sufficient with a proper oven. The bed was comfortable and the a/c and wifi both worked well. There was daily cleaning offered and drinking water. I highly recommend this studio for a great value on the beach!

We enjoyed our stay here, it was clean and the location was convenient. The wife and I are average sized people and found the bathroom to be a little tight quarters. The outdoor patio was very nice but could use a fan to make the air move. The property manager Alex was super helpful.

We totally enjoyed our stay..except the huge bug in our condo.. other than that we felt everything couldn't have been better. Staff was always cleaning the grounds/ condo's.. We really enjoyed the little enclosed patio outside our condo. We would love to come back.

We stayed for a wedding and had a great time. The area is interesting, sight seeing is great and the property very nice. To see the greater area you need a car, although arrangements can be made for airport pickup and return. I would stay again.

Great location - easy walking distance to town and close to all restaurants for dinner! The beach was fairly rocky which made it difficult for swimming, but snorkelingw as good! Would have liked to have a pool, but overall it was a great place for the price!
