Akumal Days for Families With Young Children

Small children have opinions about heat, hunger and being in a car. Akumal accommodates all three unusually well, because the best of it sits within a short walk or a five minute drive: a protected bay with fifty resident sea turtles, a lagoon calm enough to learn in, a cave system a few minutes down the highway, and a town across the road where tacos cost less than a coffee.

Three of the six days below never leave the neighborhood. Two are half days. One is a proper adventure, for the morning everyone wakes up ready for it. We would gently suggest not doing all six.

Akumal Direct, Loco Gringo and AkumalMX have covered this coast for more than thirty years with a team that lives here, and most of us learned to snorkel in the same bay your children are about to.

Before your first morning: groceries delivered so day one starts in your own kitchen, and baby gear rental and child care if you would rather not fly with a crib. Loco Gringo’s family activities library is worth an evening of browsing before you come.
